Chris, That has crossed my mind more then once, as it would be a lot easier, cheaper and less time consuming if I shut down the sYc/Supercar Registry. I certaintly have plenty of other things to do, such as spending more time with my family and enjoying my cars. But, then I stop and think why did I begin this journey, and why I continue.

The reason? To bring together some of the neatest cars and people (at least in my mind) in the world, Chevy Supercars and their owners. Six years ago, when I first begin the sYc, it was rare to see more then 2-3 of these cars at a show. Now, the SCR averages over 40, the Gibb show will have 15-20, same for the York show. Did we do this by ourselves, of course not, but we have certaintly done our share of begging/coaxing/persuading of owners to get them to share their "special" cars with the public, many times at great expense (to the owner). That is why I was so upset about the remark about Charley's car. Charley had his '69 ZL-1 trailered all the way from CA to IL for SCR5, and even did some burnouts for us. WOW! As per the 2002 ZL-1, Charley went the extra mile to get this car to Collinsville, as it was scheduled to be at a show in Bowling Green, KY. Charley made special arrangements to have the car trailered from there to SCR5, so it could be displayed along side his other ZL-1. On Sunday, Charley even took this brand new supercar to the track for everyone to enjoy. He even went as far as to allow yours truley to drive the car.

Now, with all of this said, comes the problem. Why would any supercar owner be willing to attend an event with their supercar (old or new) such as SCR, knowing that they could suffer the same fate as Charley. Trust me, everyone, just as Mark did, wants to brag about how they beat a Yenko, Zl-1, COPO, whatever. We face this every time we race our Camaro. Like any other owner, supercar owners do not enjoy being bashed.

In closing, the sYc was formed, not to exclude any cars, but rather to include a select few cars, which I labeled as supercars. The cars I grew up dreaming about. So, if your passion is enjoying the same cars as me, and many others supercar enthusiasts, then welcome aboard.

I can personally say that I have thourghly enjoyed this website and the majority of people who frequent it. I also would like to say thanks to Rob for starting the site and allowing others to have a place to visit. I just hope that the temptation to exclude others based on their lack of Yenkos, Motions, etc. doesn't creep in. There are a lot of super interesting cars that members have that aren't "supercars," and I would hate to see those cars be seen in a negative light. All musclecars IMHO are neat from 327 Camaros to Yenkos. Thanks again,

Greg Carlson

Re: 68 Camaro LS6

Mr. Clary, I would like to thank you for creating and keeping this wonderful site up and going. I have been a muscle car fan since I could understand what these cars were and their meaning in the history of muscle cars. I think that all the cars, Z28,Yenko,Baldwin-Motion,Nickey,Dana,COPO 9561,ZL-1,SS396,02 ZL-1 SUPERCAR,LS-6 etc. are great cars and awesome performers, and are very easy on the eyes to look at, stir up adrenaline and emotions for everyone who is a fan of these cars, and I think it is very important for the younger generation to see these cars and learn to appreciate their importance, as they are the collectors who will own, preserve, and care for these cars well being 20 years from now! I am already taking my 2 year old to every car show I can, and he really loves the video of Brian H. "Crucifying the Wide Treads", it fact I have gotten him to say "KICK IT" right before he opens that Yenko up! I think the younger generation is the life of this hobby, I would rather take my kid to a car show with me anyday and someone say," he is a real gearhead", because that is million times better and less harmful than being a "dopehead"! Everyone on this board should thank these guys who bring out their wonderful cars to share with us and enjoy them! For the posts on this subject at hand, any of us can go out and build a Camaro that will take any of these Supercars in a 1/4 miles battle, but thats not the point, these cars are being classified SUPERCARS because of the awesome level of performance they offered from the factory, and the mystique they carry with them, and to the tuners that built some these cars and for their foresight that no one else saw at the time. Remember it took the factory 20 years after these cars were built to build another car that matched their performance! Everything I have ever heard about Charley is that he is a "class act", and everytime I have ever emailed him with a question, he was prompt with a response and welcomed the question, and maybe Mark was just putting in some innocent ribbing in his ad and some people took it the wrong way, but lets remember that two negatives do not make a positive! Now, lets hear Charleys rebuttal!

Charley's silence is deafening and speaks volumes about his character as a person, and as a forum leader of this board.

Happy Father's Day, Chuck!

Mr. Clary,

You have an excellent site here. I have read the many remarks by different members with a great deal of interest. I had the opportunity to meet Charley Lillard on May 17th and 18th when I took delivery of my 2002 ZL1 at Berger Chevrolet. I was immediately impressed with him and a few other gentleman such as Carl Stuber, Jim Parks and Ken Barnhart (just to name a few). EVERYONE of these gentleman had time to talk with me and share the hobby.

I do believe that markj was out of line in his posting.

I hope that the site will stay up and running with people such as yourself and others sharing what they know about the hobby.

I have learned a great deal from this website in the past month and to all of you that have shared your knowledge with me, I thank you.

Geeze... I leave for a few days to do my first Carlisle ever and come back to this... I can't leave you Babies alone for a second....
"where it spanked the #3 ZLI GMMG yellow camaro while shifting at just 5500 RPM so it wouldn`t embarass the owner too bad after he spent $60,000-$80,000 on that joke of a overpriced car.".....Mark...I like your Car but I do take that statement as an Insult. It does not come across as good natured Ribbing. I believe you really don't like the new ZL1's. You believe that they are just a attempt to cash in... You apparently don't know Matt Murphy. Matt is a Die Hard Muscle car Historian.. Matt probably knows more about 67 Pace cars than anybody out there. Matt builds them because he wants to build really Cool stuff that ties into the past. His attention to Detail is amazing. I won't go on about Matt because it would take too long. As for the poor performance of my car you should probably look to the driver. I assume the base ZL1 will run about like a ZO6 Vette. Remember that you raced the Base ZL1... That is the only way they can be sold new with a Warranty and Emissions. The car is now a Phase 3 600hp version and you could still probably beat it if I am the Driver. I'm the Guy that runs 12.15@120 in my 67 Camaro..Think maybe a better driver could beat you in my Car with that 120mph ? Can we put you up against oh maybe Ken Barnhart in his ?
Overpriced ? I guess it depends on how you look at it. I feel very fortunate to be able to afford some of this stuff and I realize many others can't. The price on my 60-80K Car ended up at about 93K. If you compare it to a New 493hp Mercedes or BMW or other Exotic it seems more in line and will probably hold its value better. In any case I would rather be driving a 600 hp Camaro that has a Factory type appearance than a german car. I like the German Cars also but the Camaro was my choice. Why would anybody pay 100K for a Old Musclecar when you can bolt a few parts on a new Camaro and spank the old one and run the AC ? What will todays Kids but collecting in 15 years ? I kinda think they will think the GMMG built stuff is pretty Cool. I know the New ZL1's draw just as big of a crowd as the COPOS as was evidenced at Carlisle this Weekend.
There is room for all of us here but I would appreciate it if you didn't bash my Car in an attempt to sell yours.
And you Guys all Suck.... Don't make me bring out the Dogs.. And wait till you see what Murphy and Barker are up to now.

I think Tom Clary is gonna post about it. Think about this years Reunion Guest. I didn't just sell my JL8 car and COPO for Nuttin.

Re: 68 Camaro LS6

I have posted and sold cars here. Some were Supercars and some werent. Very rarely have I ever not sold one. I apprieciate the opportunity this board provides for me to post those cars as I am sure others apprieciate the ability to take first shot at them before the general public. Never once have I ever had to bash anyone to sell a car, knocking someone else's car while trying to sell yours is basically saying you ran out of positive things to say about the car you are selling, so how bout making up some negetive things about someone elses car to take up space. If someone feels the need to bash someone...heck, this is like walking up and kicking God in the shin, and not because Charley has the money to buy these cars, but because he is a nice enough guy to go to great lengths for other people to enjoy them. When I met Charlie at Berger I was duely impressed with his cars as anyone would be, but I was much more impressed that he had brought these cars from California to Michigan to help in making the Berger event a success for everyone who attended. The founders of this site put this together for Supercars, which the definition I see them as is whatever they want them to be as it is their site, but not once can I recall them ever making a negative comment about anyones car here, Supercar or otherwise, unless we are talking about the king of crime up in Alberta Canada, which we all jumped. It seems to me that all car guys(and girls), and all types of cars are welcome here, both welcomed with respect if that is what they are coming with. Come lacking respect and thats when the spanking begins. Also, for once it is refreshing to see the $hit hit the fan without it being mine or Marlins fault. Finally, for Mr LS whatever Camaro that started this crap, I have a rag tag 55 shoebox Chevy with rusted thin fenderwell headers from the sixties, running a small block that smokes a bit on one bank, got to kick the dash lightly to make the eight track work, and I got $500 bucks says I will put a spanking on your Camaro, you call the time and a place midway between us, I dont care if it costs me twice the five bills to get there, I will show up and teach you how we paved Woodward for years. Neither one is a Supercar, and I am not bashing the person who owns the Camaro, I am simply calling you out the way it's been done since straight axle front ends. Put up or clam up, your call. And, since I am on a roll, Belair, you causin trouble again? Whats this spanking Charley business? You jealous? Tom and Rob, keep up the good work, Charley, keep em mo-bile, and everybody else, Happy Fathers Day, or Grandfathers in some cases! Thanks for the Rant,
