Also, is it known specifically that all '67 L79 production were 2-Dr. Hardtops or any 2-Dr. Sedans possibly built/existing?

only saginaws were used in them, which adds to their uniqueness.

all of the L79 Chevy II's were Nova SS cars.

yes, very cool subject. from what all I've researched they were all:

Nova SS cars

cast iron intake (vs aluminum in 66)

quadrajet carb (vs holley in 66)

325hp (vs 350hp in 66)

open air element (vs double snorkel in 66)

saginaw 4 speed trans

may or later builds

FQ coded only rears, which is 3.07 12-bolt open (GM literally only made that rear for this car)

these cars are so interesting (and not because i have one), but because they are like an in between model of their own...stuck between a 66 look and a 68 engine with the open air cleaner, carb, and cast intake, but yet with a diff trans and unique rear. they almost appear to be an experiment or something crazy. it used to be supposed that the 6 engines were leftover blocks from 66, but then they didn't make the cars until the end of the model year so who knows about that? although they might have been. i'd love to know the cast date of an original engine car, to see if it follows the normal rules of within 2 or 3 months or so, or if it literally was leftover from the 66 ones.

mine unfortunately doesn't have its original block. it does have a 68 CE block. i tracked down the original owner from the pop and he told me a service station messed a valve cover up or something and caused the oil to leak out and locked the engine up. he said they then got a replacement for it. man, it is always the coolest thing in the world to talk to an original owner of any classic car. always a big treat of mine.

thats how my car was discovered...by its rear code. the guy i bought it from was looking for a solid 67 nova ss to tub out and hot rod. thankfully he stopped before he got started and looked up the rear and then the pop engine code and then about crapped his pants. thats a pretty cool story by itself.

Also...here is a 67 dealer order form 5/4/67 that does not show any 325/HP to order so when was this on a dealer order form if ever and how did they know there was any to order? Did they just come in that way and was ordered by salesmen or special order?

I've never seen the car in person. Had a friend send me the pictures back in 2009 cause he thought I would find them interesting.

If you look closely at the radiator listings you will see the 396/325hp listed for the 1968 Nova...that engine was never available in the Nova.

Jack Duer's old L79. (Same car as above). Pretty sure I remember someone saying Jack sold his car to Dan Miller which at the time was the only other known L79.
