Another funny Terry story : after he bought the car, he had all the original paperwork for the car ( window and tank stickers, dealer invoice ,POP, etc) in a briefcase when he decided to stop off at a pub for a cold one. When he left, he forgot the briefcase. Hours later in a complete panic , he raced back to the pub and found the briefcase just where he left it !! He was much more colorful in telling this story than me !! We had a good chuckle.

The Terry stories would probably never end. I was with Terrys cousin at the Barrett Jackson auction in 2005 when Terry called to announce he purchased a one owner 69 Corvette at the RM auction across town. This was the same year his gold LS6 Chevelle was going through Barrett Jackson and the funds wouldn't be available in time to pay for the Corvette. He called his cousin to ask for a loan until the Chevelle funds came in. Of course, Steve loaned him the money and actually owned half the car until Terry bought out his half. Terry needed my help to get the car back to the Barrett Jackson parking lot for transit home to Illinois. Terry drove the car in the pouring rain from RM to Barrett Jackson and through the muddy parking lot to the transport. I followed in the rental car. In 2006 Terry wanted to get the car judged at San Antonio Nationals so he sent the car to Austin for me to garage until the auction. He forgot to sign the car up for the Nationals and in January of 2007 he passed away while the car was still in my garage. Dana Mecum really did a nice thing, he and Terry were friends for a long time. Dana sold all of Terrys cars at auction with the proceeds going to Terrys daughter. He had the car shipped to the auction from my house and it sold for lots of money at the Terry Carney estate sale.

Of the many things I like about this site these stories about cars are at the top. The love and respect for the cars and each other is very cool and appreciated!
Thanks and keep them coming!
B.

Great story Tim - thanks for sharing.

Silver LS6?

----Silver LS6 was my 71 Corvette. Beautiful original car with the right options. Only thing I could have wanted more was deluxe interior. One of probably the top five best driving Corvettes I ever had. Another is sitting in my garage for the second time in 46 years!
----Tim,,,That 70 LS6 Chevelle was half mine. Took it in trade on Red Alert.....Bill S

Bill, I remember that. That's why Terry only had half the funds for the 1969 Corvette.

I have such great memories of all these cars when I was growing up!:beers: The ride to Bloomington Gold in the L-89 was epic.
I was only 7 years old at the time but boy did we have fun!!

----Tim,,,That was my last experience with BJ. I had a great 6:30 Friday time but because several dealers ahead of me added extra cars our LS6 didn't go off until 10:30. Nobody there except the buyer, me, and one drunk. The car should have brought $20,000 more. I felt bad for Terry..... Oh well, live and learn...….Bill S
