I could not have summed this up better!!! Amen Brother!!

Car show with voting with ballot papers.
"He who has the most friends win"

I went to a Mopar only Springfling show here in Toronto Canada with my Mopar National and Carlisle "Best in class E body" former champion 70 R/T S.E Challenger and everyone was surprised when a modified with weld wheels 74 Challenger won. Later I found out the owner was part of the club that sponsored the show Oh the politics of a car show some times.
They will never get my support again.

Lots of people at these cruises don't even know what they are looking at. I had more attention with the stupid repro window sticker than the car itself sometimes.. Those windows stickers draw more attention and people. Then you get the stupid comments about how the car was only three grand, twenty eight hundred, or whatever new back then. I would tell people that was a lot of money back in 69 or 70... Then you always heard, "I will give you that for it now, HA HA". Yeah real funny...

Needles to say I ditched the window sticker asap...

I think some of the most enjoyment I get at cruise nights is from the couple that are truly clueless. I mean that in a good way too. Some don't know a Chevy from a Ford much less a 68 from a 78. They get pulled in like a moth to a light and admire your car like art. Genuine interest, basic questions and maybe a few pics. I'm happy to have met some nice people both young and old by just hanging out and being polite. Spending some time with some appreciative spectators usually makes up for the stampede of tools.

Just remember, a long hard day at work, traffic, crappy roads and a few tools can be a receipt for misery.

I get a kick out of the people who don't recognize the model name of our old cars today.
We all here have Nova,Chevelle,Elcamino,Impala,Corvair etc.in our DNA,but many people today are only somewhat familiar with the names Camaro & Monte Carlo.
And some are speechless when they walk upon an old station wagon for the first time.
I always grin when a young child walks up to me to ask what my car is called, and then yells back to their parents,"It's called a Chevelle".
Are we really that old?

Always pay attention to the young people and answer their questions. The old people either already know the answers or they are not capable of understanding the answers.

If your car's not red you have about a 25% less chance to win anything. The absent minded voters simply vote based on color.

I go to the shows to hear the random spectator who's there by chance talk about their brothers old Hemi Road Runner. It usually checks out as an old 68 Satellite or something, but the stories are cool none the less. Plus, there's that remote chance that it was actually an old Hemi Road Runner

People go to cruises / informal car shows to "win" something? Really? hmmm, definitely a difference of reasons ...
