If I owned one I may feel differently about these boots. But being a fellow without one, I just don't really get excited about them. Poking a hole in a standard boot seems like a simple enough solution.

I disagree on this one. Hurst made better shifters by far over Mr Gasket but the Mr. Gasket Vertical Gate was noted in the day to be THE shifter to have. For every Hurst ram Rod sold, Mr Gasket sold 500 Vertical Gates-don't know the exact # but just making a point here. I think it was Super Stock mag who did a comparison and it was hands down Mr. Gasket and also spoke with some credible speed shop owners from the day over the years and the return customer comments for the Vertical Gate style shifters was Mr Gasket. Again this is personal preference. |

I gotta agree. I think the Mr. Gasket straight-line shifter was the superior of the two.

I have had two guys that rebuild shifters tell me that they prefer the Ram Rod over the V-Gate because the V-Gate would get hung up in between the gates. [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/dunno.gif[/img]

The V-gate is sloppy feeling, the Ram Rod is smoother and tighter. I think the reason is because of the simple design using less parts.
High sell numbers doesn't always mean better product. Even though I love the Vega, we all know the flaws that line carried. 1,966,157 total were sold. |

It has the distinct ergonomic advantage of always having the trigger the same distance from the T-handle, no matter which gear you're in.

If anything, I thought the flat reverse lever was maybe slightly more common, but I haven't actually been counting... |
