Maybe you're a little new to this Hemi stuff but if Chrysler made one injection molded chopped fibreglass duct assembly for the 383 and 440 and then in using that assembly in the 426 hemi applications, they modified it by punching a hole in a specific spot for master cylinder clearance and then offered it as a separate assembly due to that different application THAT IS A DIFFERENT PART.

Just because you can make the 383/440 component into the hemi component with five minutes of creative cutting does not make it the same part. It makes it a replica of the original part. For those of us who restore and preserve these cars, it does make a difference.

You've posted all of 4 times on this website. A little courtesy goes a long way. I would venture to guess that the guys attempting to help out with info on this car have several decades more experience with these cars than you do. So if you want to argue the semantics of part numbers, I'd be happy to play. But then again, I'm a relative newbie since I've only been wrenching on them for 30 years.

Would you park your Hemi RR in the corner of the EG gas station in the 70's?

I drove my first Superbird, daily, to highschool at age 16, back in the 70's when they were considered just another used car. And I parked it at the local Fair Auto Supply store in West Haven, CT, where I worked 5 days a week after school. I think that carbon dates me as a Mopar Neanderthal.

Steve, You might "feel" that old, but you're not really old enough for carbon dating. Besides, you're still alive, which makes the process a tad more difficult https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

Hate to bust your bubble, but I have many decades experience with Mopars, Packards, Studebakers, etc., etc., etc.. And as you so eloquently explained if the original "Hemi" part started out life as the lowly wedge part (which it probably did), then taking the wedge part and modifying it (now) as the factory did would mean that you just turned it in to a "hemi" part...just like Mopar did.

You can't do that with real live honest to God "Hemi specific" parts.

Oh yeah, my post count on this one forum means nothing, except to those who think they're better, holier, whatever, because they have more posts on "this forum". Cause when it gets down to it, this forum doesn't mean much outside of this forum

Y'all are acting like the "old folks" over on Yellowbullet https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif
