Sweet" </div></div> The gray one is a 71 ss floor shift/console/auto car, but is being used for parts for the blue one. My father in law started working on them but they've been sitting in the same spot for 12 years. He passed away in january and my mother in law gave me the cars and about 20K worth of parts, with the promise to finish them. |

It wont get killed, I've got enough parts for 3 or 4 cars, but since the blue car's body is in pretty decent shape, I'm going to use the best parts on it. I dont have the original motor for the gray car but I do have the trans and 12 bolt.

I would love to finally do an SS Russ. Shadow grew is not a bad color on a Nova either. Plus the fact that it's an A/C car is nice.

1968 Camaro Z/28 Rallye Green with white strips and black standard interior. Originally out of Penske Chevrolet. Was run in D/Stock and D/MP back in the early 1970's. Owner told me that he ran the NED circuit then. Still has in as raced condition 302, Doug Nash Super T10, and 12 bolt with 5.13's. Note NMW tow tabs. Car is very rough and, of course, not for sale.

This poor 1967 Chevelle 12 bolt housing has been sitting outside for many years. Normally, I would try and save parts like this and try and give them new life, however, this one was just way too rough.

This showed up on Craigs List about 2 years ago. "accepting offers" the ad said. Turns out, it sold for $500 to a local flipper. He must not have waited long for offers to come up.

Sure looks like it says "10,000 Lakes" to me and you are right, there are a LOT of rotting cars up there unlike here in Illinois. Seems like the state went overboard cleaning up and you can even rarely find them in farmers back 40. I miss that from Minnesota.

the 3 Vette wrecking yard pics with black trim are from the closed Lincoln auto wrecking yard, that was the upper level area right behind the main office, I recognize quite a few of the cars I believe that picture was taken in the early 80's right before the place was closed.
one other trivial note the crazy high fence was a net, that part of yard was at the top end of the Golf driving range next door. |

This is how we found my dad's 69 Impala SS 427 vert in 05. The car has since undergone a complete restoration and retains its numbers matching drivetrain.

It’s actually pretty good story.
Back in the late 70's my dad spotted this car in Brainerd, MN. His brother always wanted a 69 (my dad had one at the time) so he told him about it. His brother bought the car for $500 with the motor in the trunk. After a few years of sitting on it, my uncle started working on the motor. Well, an impending divorce had him strapped financially and the bank came a calling and reposessed the car. Before the bank picked it up my dad wrote the VIN down and started tracking the car for the next 25 years. For that entire duration the car saw 3 new owners, each with the plan to "fix it up". Well, that never happened. My dad's 50th was about a year away and my siblings and I thought it would be cool to see if the car was available. We had to find it first though. I remember my dad showing me the VIN scribbling’s on a piece of paper when I was much younger and on a hunch I dove into his wallet one night while he was asleep. Jackpot! He had kept dibs on the car all the way to the current owner and where it was located. I contacted the current owner who wasn’t looking to sell, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to fulfill a guy’s dream of buying the ultimate 69 one day. The birthday angle didn’t hurt either. So, for $3,600 he parted with the Impala (each sibling chipping in $1,200). We presented it to my dad at his 50th surprise birthday party. He was shocked beyond words. The car has since undergone a frame off restoration and retains its #’s matching drivetrain. Specs are: 427/390hp, auto, console, Parchment interior, white convertible top.
