The biggest lake in the world is the Caspian Sea. It’s called a “sea” because it’s filled with salt water. However, it isn’t connected to any ocean and lies below sea level. So technically, it’s a lake—the biggest lake, ahead of Lake Superior.

The summit of the Chimborazo Volcano in Ecuador is the furthest point from the center of the Earth. Thought it was Everest? Nope! Because our planet is in the shape of an ellipse, its radius is longer at the equator than at the poles (21 km or 13 miles more). Chimborazo’s position makes it stand 6,384 km (3,967 miles) from the center of the Earth, versus 6,382 km (3,966 miles) for Everest.
Keith! You got any funny sayings about 1 mile?

You probably know that continents drift—but do you know how quickly? North America is moving away from Europe at a rate of 5 cm (about 2 inches) per year, which is about the same speed that fingernails grow!
