https://s26.postimg.cc/87ewo4y3t/555.jpg Santa Pod is the venue in which the current world drag racing record, a time of 3.58 seconds at 386.26 mph (621.61 km/h) was set by Sammy Miller in his Vanishing Point rocket-propelled funny car in July 1984. As impressive as that is, it is not the fastest 1/4 mile time set. That record belongs to Kitty O'Neil. In 1977 in the Mojave Desert, Kitty O'Neil piloted a hydrogen peroxide powered rocket dragster built by Ky Michaelson to the quickest quarter mile elapsed time in auto history, with a timed run of 3.22 seconds at 396 mph (637 km/h) with an average speed of 279.5 mph (449.8 km/h). This was in the desert not on a track. |

If you remember a ways back I had stated that scorpions were older than sharks by about 10 million years (430M vs 420M). The horseshoe crab is even older: 450 million years. Though they are called "crabs" they are not crustaceans. They are arthropods and have more in common with spiders than they do with crabs. |

Owls do not have eye balls. They have eye tubes which are fixed in place. The only way to move them is for the owl to move their head. |

This dangerous plant is called the giant hogweed and it’s been classified by the government as a noxious weed. It grows to about 14 feet tall and has a thick green, hairy stem with large leaves at the top and white flowers. The reason you should avoid touching it at all costs: It’s covered in toxic sap that can cause painful burns, scarring, and potential blindness. |
