Having worked at Hardin Olds, Honda and DeLorean...I got to see how poorly they were out together...they were worse than the 80's Olds as far as build quality....if you can believe it.Also it took forever to get parts! </div></div> Bruce, have you watched The Car Show with Adam Carolla? I think it's on SPEED. In any event, there was an episode where I think they raced a Nissan Altima or something against it and the DeLorean got crushed. It was slow as hell. Was amusing to watch. haha. |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
It wouldn't surprise me!

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
I used to park cars at a few of the casinos here in Atlantic City and got to drive a few of these when new and they were slow as hell and handled like crap. Looked pretty cool, I must admit, but I think a Yugo would give it a run for it's money in a race.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
I worked for a Steel Service Center in the eighties & nineties that’s main product line was stainless steel. The company owner had to have a DeLorean and I got to take it out and abuse it on many occasions.
It had a Peugeot / Renault engine that only put out about 130 hp, it handled well but performance wise was a real dog. My boss was a big (fat) guy and had quite a problem getting in and out. I had the opportunity to purchase it on lease’s end for a cheap price – but passed. What turned out to be a wise decision! |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Glenn, you are lucky that your boss didn't get stuck in the car...one of the weak links was the door handles...they broke, effectively trapping the occupant in the car (since only a portion of the window rolled down)

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Very sad!
These pics remind of that Discovery show "Life without people", where the land reclaims everything eventually. Trees growing through a car is just wrong. |

My true barn find 72 Camaro, 83000 mile one owner, stored in barn since 91 when the old lady died. Family had no interest in it. I decided to give it to my son for his first birthday.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ulolds/AMX.jpg Its a 1969 AMX that had some front end damage and has been extensively cut up. Could not find a VIN # In another part of the yard spotted this Fairlane 63 I believe,no Motor or trans but has a set of Torque Thrusts: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...s/Fairlane.jpg Merry Christmas Paul |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
My plans is to try get it to me in Sweden.
Its a 348 Special Hi Perf or a 409 Car. The Swedish guy that was going to help me ship it to Sweden have stolen it from me. Its somewere down in Atlanta now. http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u..._Chevy_201.jpg |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Literally "stolen it" from you!!!!
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Awesome project... love those 1961's! Did someone really steal it? Thats a shame if they did.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
That´s sad to hear Niclas. I just hate these guys who take your money and don´t deliver.
I´m glad I have my friend Kimmert in C.T. He fixes everything from paying the seller, to delivering it to the buyer in Sweden. He´s trustworthy. I hope you get the car in the end. You must be as crazy as I am, because I would not hesitate to work on that car if I had the time. Would be a real cool car when finished. |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Too funny. Annie and I took the owner of Brandts out for Christmas dinner last night and I showed her this picture. It made her evening. She is 88 and still runs the international company and Nationwide race sponsorship and loves seeing their stuff on the road. She also loved the car as she is also a gearhead. Not bad for an 88 year'ol lady.
