not to change the festive theme, but here is a picture posted on the AACA site, they have a similar thread dedicated to Cadillacs:

This is a great thread and spent hours looking through it. Here is a pic of my dads '64 GTO convertible. The pic was taken in 1978. The 2nd pic was my dads '57 Pontiac Chieftan. Though you can't see it in the pic... the car has a flame job.

Thanks for the welcoming and the compliments. I wish my dad would've kept it. The car was sold right around the time the picture was taken. I believe he sold it for $1800 in 1978.... He only paid $750 for it in '76. I remember doing 110 with the top down.... Its stuff like that that got me hooked on cars.

That is correct, the Dakota, built in the late 1800's stands alone on Central Park West in this photo...(Keeping in the "Old Street Theme")

This was a somewhat famous shot of The Beatles on their first trip (Feb 1964) to New York. They had never been to America before (well, George had, just to visit his sister, before they were famous), and New York just overwhelmed them. They were escorted around as photographers snapped hundreds of pictures.

No one (especially John) in 1964 could have foreseen a time when Lennon would settle in New York years later, and in this photo you can see the exact location where he would live (and tragically die) in 1980.

https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...background.jpg

Note: Harrison was absent from these photo shoots, because he had a severe case of the flu. So severe in fact that they didn't think he would be able to appear on the Ed Sullivan Show. Sullivan said that if Harrison didn't play, Ed himself would put on a Beatles wig and take his place. Interesting when you see the original 1964 TV broadcast, as George looks fine, but in fact he was deathly ill.

Re: Old Street Scenes

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...3califtrip.jpg

this shot is from my 1st "solo" visit to California (without parents) in 1974. We were visiting a friends brother stationed in Sacramento and bought the 63 Split window for $1800.

It had all the day 2 stuff on it, black side pipes, WIDE Ansen sprints with corresponding wide bias plies and flares

We did the coast Highway down to LA and traded the wide Sprints for a set of 5 63 knockoffs with Michelin radials that we found on a guy's 69 SS396 El Camino ... poor guy, the rear tires we traded him wouldn't fit under the rear wheel wells and his air shocks were not functioning ...

That made the Corvette look stupid with the wide flares and skinny knock-offs, but we knew the value of original parts over day 2 stuff way back then ...

the car DROVE way better with the OEM sized tires/wheels though

Re: Old Street Scenes

was digging through some old pictures and found a couple of gems:

My 1st 1969 Camaro, taken in 1974 I think. It has the NVY 302 plates on it from my 56 Chevy. 307, Turbohydromatic, disc brakes, positraction, F-41 suspension & factory air (the car was "cloned" into a Z28 within 6 months after I sold it. One of those RARE factory air automatic 69 Z/28's).

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...69camaromi.jpg

Yeah, I added the Corvette Rally wheels with the 67 centers ...

I stopped counting but that was the 1st of ~80 69 Camaros I have owned over the years ...

The 1956 Chevy Delray, taken in 73 or 74. This is overlooking northern Lake Michigan in the background and I think it is Manitou island out there.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...ymicropped.jpg

Engine: stock 302 from a 68 Z28 with a 62 Corvette FI on it. Note the "correct" fuel filter ... and the "correct" placement of the fender emblems on the prior picture.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...nngcropped.jpg

We took it to the 1st Bloomington (2nd?) Corvette show:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...loomington.jpg

and everybody wanted to know where it came from. (I replaced the plenum with an early 57 when we were there). I told everyone it was Zora's West Coast press car and was the prototype for the 57 Fuel Injection (I had a correct air cleaner on it as well). People noticed the one piece bumpers and the CA frame and bought the "story". We had it in the swap area and were selling parts as I recall.

I guess I had too many pictures in the above post, so I split it up:

August 74 in California, this is the 63 Corvette we paid $1800 for in Sacramento

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...nissplitcu.jpg

A car I wanted in Sacramento, but it was not for sale:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...jrca7456sd.jpg

later that week, down the coast:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...splitocean.jpg

Wednesday night we were here:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...svannuys74.jpg

That night was the 1st time we had ever seen a low rider ...

San Diego later that week:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...ennislowcu.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...ennislowup.jpg

camping in Nevada:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...plitcampnv.jpg

and In Colorado:

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...scocropped.jpg

there was a huge flood at this location 2 years later ...
