This RS/Z is a local car and the owner was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1983 and his father will not sell the car.

yes, looks like drop top VW glass or maybe it's a Merc? Never saw a B pillar like that on a 40 Ford |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Yeah that Ford looks funny because its not really a Ford.
Its a Mercury Coupe, looks like a '40. Mercury had their own styled roofline compared to Ford. TOM |

Are the front clips the same Tom? |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
No, but they're awfully similar at first glance, and the headlights look the same in pictures. The Merc grille is very similar to the '40 Ford Standard piece (which looks like a '39 Ford DeLuxe piece, per Ford's custom at the time), but is less ornate than the pointy hood and "side" grilles of the '40 Ford DeLuxe. Seems funny to have a totally unique roofline then have the front clip ape the base model Ford. Who knows.....
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
----I believe that the wheelbase on the Merc is longer from the firewall forward. Therefore the front ends are not interchangable without a frame change to go along. I am pretty sure this Merc is fairly rare and I know its very cool looking.....Bill S

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS

Here is a 1962 Chevrolet Belair Bubbletop that I just found today. Factory V8, stick, red/red car.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
matt, is that car in jersey and did you buy it?
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Yes the car is in Jersey. I have not purchased it. Working on it.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Doesn't look all too terrible from the photos either, Matt. Dig the bullet holes in the windshield. What are your plans?
|
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
The car is rusty. Floors are shot and it needs everything. I love those 1962 Belairs though. No plans, just trying to get the owner to sell.

How about a 55 Chevy cut down to look like an El Camino on a 4x4 frame. This is sitting in a junk yard inside a 53' trailer along with a 37 0r 38 Chevy Coupe. The guy who did the work is one of the best body and paint guys around, the problem is he never finishes anything including other customers work.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Wait 'til you guys see what I am dragging home Saturday. A 2 for 1 sale on a 70 and 73 that I scored on Ebay for $183.This is the BETTER of the 2!!
This is the 70. The roof is shot, but the 73 has a good roof. To be honest, all I needed was the roof for my other car,but I may mix and match some stuff and try to get one car I can pass along.Scrap is high though. Oh,and the front and rear suspention/axle arent included at that price. It does have welded in subframe connectors and a blasted frame and firewall. I have all all new full 1/4's,outer houses, drop offs, solid doors, and entire front clip trim and all in NOS metal. It is a ddoable project, but the truth is I need the donor roof for my own 73 which is WAY more solid then either of theses. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../70project.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...70project2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...roject7011.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rojoct7010.jpg |
