1st- I'm gonna dig around with some of my nostalgia buddies and see if they remember that name; I do not. "Jim's Automatic" kind of rings a bell. 2nd- the sponsor on the front fender "Racing Parts &Machine Co." was THE place to buy race stuff and have engines built in and around north Baltimore. They were located on Joppa Rd. in a rural area. A little outside of Balto. to the south was Coleman Brothers. 3rd- in the B/W pic in post #608867 at Aquasco, the opponent is Carl Hobbs a.k.a. "Super Fats". Hobbs had a few fast Camaros and did a whole lot of local stuff. He still has a gas station in Edgemere, MD, although I think his son my be running it. Not sure if any of his old cars survived. </div></div> A few years ago I tried to get in touch of any relative of Jim Sinsel in Baltimore through Facebook. But of those who responded so was none related to Jim |

Wow internet travels fast. I see Geoff was looking for info on a 67 Camaro just wondering if he purchased the car from the owner i last knew because i have alot more cool pictures of the car of the "as raced" condition. Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
I am chasing down previous owners on a factory Triple Black 67 RS SS Camaro fully loaded as well as another red on red 67 RS SS 396 big block car. But I believe you said the car was factory yellow?
I as well as many others on here would love to see more photos of this car if you wanted to share them? I got the photo I posted off the internet, Its a fantastic photo and to hear the story behind it is amazing.... I love this sort of stuff. |
Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
I can't believe that I didn't post these yet. I now own this car. It has been a race car since day one in Junly of 1970but it didn't start racing until the beginning of 1972. I have the earliest pictures of it being raced as a pro stocker,as well as a later pic as a gasser.
I was only about 9 months old when these pics were taken. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps934c2e15.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps7c39344d.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2b9737c8.pnghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps5962b42e.pnghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps4201bc1c.png |
Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
Engine pic. I believe that this is the Booth and Arons engine that Ronnie ran. He says the car ran 9.74 during the 2 years that he raced it,and his primary reason for getting out of pro stock was that he couldn't compete against the Lenco drivers. I am not sure if he ever ran Jenkins stuff in the car,but he did buy it from the Wheatley bros who built it with Jenkins power.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psef664cf4.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psd17c85cd.png Years later,a guy named Bob Demarco owned an raced it,I believe as a Gasser. At one point in time the car had a McBetts engine in it,but I can't say when that was. This pic is at Keystone/Pittsburgh maybe in the mid/late 70's http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2b43308b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s83a06383.jpeg |
