You and i are the same age, i grew up on Oldsmobile's 65 442, and a 69 w31 that i raced at 131 and PSMCDR in 2022. Switched to the The Big Block Chevy Camp early this year after racing an LS6/TH400 Chevelle at PSMCDR in 2024. i assure you the big block is the way to go for someone our age. The parts are still readily available and although they aren't small block cheap but they are cheaper to build than an olds....have fun and BE the day 2 guy. Im still the numbers and paperwork guy and that adds a whole extra expense.

Working on it! Just bought a reman 3310 on eBay (A, for price, B, I hate that they've changed the way they look, like putting Holley performance on the base), got a timing cover, waiting for lifters and a water pump. Then it's ignition stuff, an oil pickup (waiting for the measurement), fan and clutch, and fluids and I think he'll have everything to put it together.. I've also decided I don't want to run that Accel 51100E I bought. I didn't realize you can't get replacement modules anymore and so I'd rather not have to worry as much. Thinking, as I seem to remember wanting ten years ago, a PerTronix stock look. The Ignitor III with the built in multispark and rev limiter. That actually leads me to a question, albeit one that *may* be unwise. I kinda want to run a Mallory Voltmaster coil- the one I have is, if I did it right, showing 0.8 ohms on my multimeter. The Ignitor III coil is 0.32 ohms. Will it be safe to run a higher resistance coil? This is where my utter lack of knowledge comes back out to the forefront

NO, on the Mallory, the .8 ohms will kill the Pertronix almost immediately. You may be able to reduce that with a resistor, but I have no experience with that and nothing to suggest. I always buy the correct, matching Pertonix coil in black and turn the label to the firewall and, for most people, it appears as a stock coil would. I have 3 of those Pertronix III's in cars and haven't had any issues.

That's exactly what I was afraid of, thank you. They have that coil in chrome. I could put an Accel sticker on it and no-one would be the wiser so that's the plan
