My best friend growing up--his parents owned one of the first '55 T-birds, bought new at Cortese Ford in Richmond, CA. He couldn't remember why the headlight rings were chrome but he said it came that way.

The Cooper River Bridge shot is cool too but they opened up a new Bridge 2-3 years ago that is also pretty amazing. That old bridge was steep, narrow and gave you a full case of white knuckles if you pushed crossing it too hard, let alone trying to pass someone after mustering up too much liquid courage at some of the local watering holes. [/ QUOTE ] My parents met in Charleston while still in the Navy after the war. They loved the town and as a kid many summer vacations were spent there. That bridge scared the crap out of me every time we went over it.(I don't think my Dad was thrilled with it either.) |

[/ QUOTE ] That's the home's original owner in the driveway in the trunk of his '52 Chrysler and my parents bought the house from him and his wife in 1968. Car in the garage is a '58 Dodge wagon. In the garage and next-door there's a 56-ish Studebaker Hawk. When we lived there the next-door neighbor built a VW dune buggy in his garage and it was metal-flake green. He used a beater late-50s bug for the donor and I would watch him as he made the swap. I even remember going for a ride when it was finished in 1969. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...38c58Crop1.jpg |

Re: Old Street Scenes
The wife was just going through old photo albums and making new ones for the kids. She handed me this picture that has her 76 Nova in the driveway (that's my justification for posting this). My father-in-law has sadly been long passed but those blond munchkins are now 28 and the one on the right has recently made me a "G Pop".
Where does the time go? http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...ingtomatos.jpg yes, that is a little pink house. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |

This is my buddys dads new 1969 Chevelle SS L78 396 M21 4 speed Convert that he ordered from Mr. Ed at Brigance Chevrolet in Oak Park, ILL while in Viet Nam (Ed ran an ad in Stars & Stripes). George picked up the car upon his return in December 1968. The pics are early 1969 (as seen by the orange 1969 ILL plates). The location is Cicero, Illinois at Cermak Rd. & 57th Ave. https://www.yenko.net/photos/data/500/chevelle_5.jpg https://www.yenko.net/photos/data/500/chevelle_4.jpg Only cause i know some might ask for more pics..... https://www.yenko.net/photos/data/500/chevelle_3.jpg https://www.yenko.net/photos/data/500/chevelle_2.jpg |

Re: Old Street Scenes
Rick, I was told it might have been some sort of alarm system or something? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Kind of doubt it though considering the car was stolen shortly afterwards from that same spot. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

A thief would just crawl under the car and jam a screw driver into the alarm siren and disable it! |
