Congrats Steve! Shows how this site and group really works together to find these rare treasures. I find the car having original A/C to be mind boggling and now wonder how many others where passed up or overlooked for being A/C cars.
Really cool! Good Luck and have fun! Sam |

I don't know that I can add anything to this thread that hasn't been said already.
Cool find Steve, it ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT BE GOING TO A BETTER HOME THAN THE ONE IN WARM, SUNNY LAS VEGAS JUST OFF THE STRIP. Jeff................kudos to you for all the hard work finding it and assisting Steve with the purchase. I like many others here know that it had to be hard keeping your mouth shut for so long. Finding such a great car and not sharing it with the world. But we all know the reason why. I am also sure that Brian will do a bang-up job restoring it. His shop does absolutely beautiful work as everyone here already knows. Again.............Steve...........CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! ! ! ! Maybe the next time we're in town............we can swing by and see the collection again. The daughter just got back from there last weekend. She and her husband were there for a week and ready to go back ! ! ! |
Re: DANA "427" Camaro found...thanks to Jeff Chlup
Had to come back and look at the pics again...tooooo much!!!.
Astock is right, these hoods are truly deadly...even finding an original one of these alone would've been a great find!. Great to see the Work Order pics and surely an interesting read, but would it be best to maybe delete them from this thread...just thinking of the crooksters and their replica paperwork also since these were built from a SB cars etc how these are really THE all important docs!?. ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |
Re: DANA "427" Camaro found...thanks to Jeff Chlup
I was thinking the same thing, Pete. That's why I was a bit reluctant to post the pics of the Dana doc's. Just wanted to hush the naysayers, but now I think I'll ask Rob to doctor a couple of my earlier posts.

Re: DANA "427" Camaro found...thanks to Jeff Chlup
Steve
Have you decided for sure to have it fully restored right away,or show it for awhile in as found condition first? Maybe start a pole in a seperate topic?? |

Steve Have you decided for sure to have it fully restored right away,or show it for awhile in as found condition first? [/ QUOTE ] I plan to ship it here first to get acquainted with the car, then discuss it with BKH for his recommendation/advice before final decision. I've yet to personally see the car and I want to be careful to do the right thing. |
Re: DANA "427" Camaro found...thanks to Jeff Chlup
thanks Tom! DANA doc's are so extremely rare, I'd hate to help facilitate the shysters that are bent on producing bogus and counterfeit paperwork.

[ QUOTE ] Wow what a great find..Jeff you're going to have to be at SCR with it also, since all the work you put into it. Hope to see Steve, Jeff, and the Dana at the next SCR. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks John...I'd like to figure a way to get Bert [the previous owner] there too for SCR-10 and maybe make a couple passes down the track before frame-off resto commences. That would truly be a highlight of the event for me to watch Bert jam gears in the Dana Camaro one-more-time. Thanks to EVERYONE for the kind remarks. It was, at times, a nerve racking couple of years waiting for Bert to decide it was time/place to sell his special car. Can't say as I blame him for being somewhat reluctant. SS [/ QUOTE ] Very nice find, Steve. It seems you've uncovered a project which will preserve yet another great car. Larry [Pantera], Ed [55Chevy] and I very lightly prepped Larry's BM 'Vette to take it to the Supercar Convention. It was one of the best events I ever attended. Larry's car was untouched after a lengthy hibernation. Caused quite a stir and provided lots of reference for the people who attended the show. Add to that, I never saw Larry happier than when we were uncovering the car, planning its restoration and while we were in participation of the Supercar Convention. Kasey...I don't recall seeing any DANA emblems/badges in the pics that Bert & Jeff sent me, but there're several boxes of misc stuff coming with the car. Do you have a picture of one? I don't believe I've EVER seen one, anywhere.
