Also........A "STRICTLY" Hypothetical situation....Let's say that in this "Hypothetical" situation....you were working in your garage spraying Chassis Black on glass beaded cleaned parts and you had two Rattle cans........the first can is now empty and you reach for the second can and it falls onto the floor......when it hits the floor the plastic cap pop's off and the spray nozzle breaks off just below the surface so you can't get a pair of pliers on the broken stem to pull it out.......I would highly recommend that you do "Not" get a very small screwdriver and try to pick the broken part out so you could replace the broken one with the empty can's nozzle.....I "Hear" Bad things could happen.........But.......I'm sure that nobody here would be "Stupid" enough to try something like that......."Right"

At some point you might as well pull it off the frame and tip it over.

Thanks Ken...I think Verne would kill me if I messed with the underside !! Its pretty nasty but every inch is untouched original 8700 miles with a nice coat of rust. You can't just do a little...you gotta go all the way once you start.

That would be the smart thing to do...But....I'm out of room till the new Garage is finished and am working with one hand tied behind my back........I'm have to do it the hard way for now......The Garage won't be done till about the time the car should be done (Spring Time).....It would be easier with the body off, but...................

The Floor Pan is just about done.....that Red Clay is a Pain to wire brush out of all the nooks and crannies....Scotch Brite tomorrow and give it a light coat of chassis black, when it gets back from the body shop I'll give it the final detailing........

Also .....Had a little set back today........I took the Grill Assy apart and was cleaning all of the Red Clay dust that had discolored the back side of the Grill over the years........the Grill was perfect......I used Royal Purple Degreaser and with a lot of scrubbing it cleaned up pretty good......after rinseing it off I turned it over and this is what was waiting for me

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC03768.jpg

The cleaner must have a mild acid base to it and it seems to have attacked the anodizing.....time to strip and re-anodize.......So if you use this stuff around aluminum https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif.....be careful.........

Re: Biscayne Resto Project

Ken,
If there was slight surface rust in the nook and crannies, like between spot welded floor supports, I'd suggest spraying a rust converter, like Permatex Extend in all those areas. It will convert the iron oxide into iron sulfate (black), which will never again allow moisture or oxygen to reach the hidden metal. You can paint right over top of it, no prep.

Verne......What looks like rust is actually the residual red dirt from the area that the car came from....there is some very light surface rust and I'll be wiping everything down with Metal Prep that I got from the Local "Strip Right" dealer just to be sure...... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

OK Ken, Just trying to help. I couldn't tell from the picture just what I was looking at in those little areas. You're doing a nice job, and I agree, that really is the fun part.
