Just got off the phone with Clint, and the saga continues. I am posting this on Clint's behalf, as he is on the road still, and is furious.

In Clints words, and I quote:

"I received a call at 5:45 a.m. this morning from the seller saying that he intentionally mislead me and my bodyman. My bodyman needs this 10k more than anyone (Matt), and I will make it right with him. The seller told me he received numerous calls from sYc members bashing me and my friends, and that they helped/urged him in creating this hoax. He mentioned 5 full names, and indicated he would call back with his attorney to discuss further."

I know there are some axes to grind between members. However, intentionally sending ANYONE 40 hours roundtrip presents a lot of risk. Both of these guys have families, and were simply "sitting ducks." This is simply not funny, and is reckless behavior by all involved.

I have been reading the posts on both sites and I picked up the post above from Detroit Horsepower. If this is all true this is just plain sick to set-up someone and play with there lives. I know who the 5 people are from the SYC man you will have some issues to deal with. The guy who set it up the false 70 B/M named 5 people from the SYC first and last name to the T you ought to be ashamed of yourselves and anyone who reads these posts should think twice about making false advertisements and putting a persons life in danger. Clint Richmond is a friend of mine and I have had good dealings with him and the "suppossed" seller (that was set-up to have this happen) stated that there was alot of S*** being thrown around better hold your pants this is going to be ugly!

If this is true, it really sucks. Personally, I don't believe the Seller. The reason is there were a number of people from the SYC site trying to get the car. Someone from this site was apparently there with a trailer and cash on Saturday only to get the same run around from the Seller. I would really like to hear the real story on this one. Personally, I don't buy the conspiracy theory, but will certainly keep an open mind upon seeing some real evidence presented.

Guys, I am a lowly non-Supercar owner who enjoys the information on this site and has made some good friends here, I think? Never have I taken part in all this consipiracy crap.....and I hope there is no reason to. I can tell you that I have talked to the "Iowa guy" on the phone multiple times while he was on the road. I guess anyone can make up anything, but I firmly beleive that he is on his way home with an empty trailer right now.

All I want to know is, what is the truth behind this deal? I am having a hard time believing that anyone cold set up such a scam and still sleep at night. I sincerely hope that this can all be chalked up to a dishonest seller who set the whole thing up on his own. But, the naming of names really bothers me. I agree with Charley about Roger, so something does seem somewhat fishy. Any insights?

I purposely did not ask for the names, because I would like to stay as neutral as possible. Terrible thing is, I see people that I consider friends on both sides of this one. I really hope that it is just some sort of scam made up by the seller and that none of the SYC setup is true. However, IF things do come to light that it is it will be a dark, dark day for not only the SYC but the whole hobby.

I don't know what to think right now-- all I know for sure is the whole thing reeks. I heard that the seller actually had the nuts to re-offer the "car" (which I do not think exists at this point) because he "felt bad" about the whole thing. What a joke..........

I sincerely hope it is a really crooked seller who has made up names to cover his tail.

I started reading this thread last nite and finished with the latest stuff today. I've tried to sort this all out, and I think some dirtbag somewhere must be wetting themselves as they lie rolling and laughing on the floor. A hoax was pulled, and then the blame was put on someone else. Now the dirtbag gets to sit back and watch as this ugly fighting takes place. I really believe that a trip to pick up the car was made by Clint, and that he later received the phone call about the hoax. And I believe that he was told by the dirtbag that some people here are behind it. Unfortunately, this sounds like its all part of the setup: Get someone to bite on the bogus ad and go on a wild goose chase across the country, then blame someone else for setting it all up. Clint, the whole phone story you were fed by the "seller" sounds like total BS from him. What reason would he have to call and confess to a hoax? The only reason for that call was to feed you some names and put the blame on someone else. One more time this has just gone to prove many points. One is that it is all about the proverbial $$$ and not the hobby. It is proved when friends turn against friends. Whoever is the culprit, it does not matter as it is working like a charm. Not only did it make a member of another site go to great expense, time and danger, but it also has once again made friends of this site turn against one another and tell them to go away. Regardless, this once again has made it a win/win for the instigator. These sites have become more about mud slinging, name calling and accusations than about friendships and cars. What a pathetic society we live in.

Sometimes I feel like I cannot show a car at one show because I am guilty by association and then I try to show at another and I am not allowed because I have shown the car at the competitors site!!!! No wonder we are loosing members, special and unique cars remain in hiding, people are afraid to share their stories, literature and parts, and members are selling off "certain" cars so they are no longer associated. They too may feel guilty by association or simply don't want to be associated with certain makes. The car and the general public are the losers here not to mention the history of the original name such as "Harrell". It has even gotten to the point that I cannot post an opinion on a site because I then am accused of bashing or being an expert. This crap needs to stop. Only men can stop it if they quit acting like children.

Someone out there is heaving one h*ll of a drunken laugh on all of our behalfs and it may not even be a member of any of the three sites but someone who is tired of going to the movies and decided to sit in front of their computer and have a laugh at our expense. Why do some programers create worms? Think about it and grow up! I already feel like I can no longer post on the other two sites for speaking "my opinion only" and am starting to get that feeling here as well. I guess we will see where this post takes me.

We all must get back to the hobby at hand. Go to shows and events, meet new friends, learn new things about the history instead of running around seeing who has the best gossip and the most mud.

i missed my call from the seller at 6:27am CST. i talked with the seller at 10am.
we BS about how i missed the phone call and i asked him where the car went. he said it was the caller with the area code 319. i asked him where i was on his call back and he said #2. i asked about the car and the seller mentioned that 20 years ago people laughed at him because his hood scoop looked totally fake. he also told me about the 25k for the car and 25k to turn off his phone. the seller (to me) seemed exstatic about the sell and the additional money. i was kinda bummed i missed on the car but am disheartened with all the BS thats going on now. i really hope no one went on a wild goose chase. however, if the car was legit and someone else had a crack at it (at 25k) and someone bullied there way into the sell then karmas a bitch.
