Yep. Trying to get the rub from the real 427 car. Though his car doesn't have embossed headrests, leftover side stripes or rear deck panel holes for emblems. The only two things those cars have in common are that they went through Yenko. All comparisons stop there.

I can't wait to see when this LB car is stripped down to reveal more details about its heritage.

If the car sold for a lot can it be assumed that folks found proof it was a converted car?

Thx I did see that, I'm a little thirsty for the story. :)

has restoration started on the car? If so, are there progress pics somewhere?

Charley Lillard 12-14-2022 01:29 PM

It is now part of Phil Mitchell's car collection and will be restored by Gary Riley and the gang at Level One Restorations. Phil has Gary backed up with work for years.

Thanks Charley for the update.

The circa 1962 photo is the former location, when Bob Braeger and Jim King were partners. They parted about that time, Jim King opening a small dealership in a residential area on the SE side of Milwaukee. Showroom still there. The former King-Braeger store is now an Auto Zone.

Just adding a little more info to the thread re: Braeger Chevrolet. I've located a Feb. 1984 press photo showing the inside of the dealership featuring Bob Braeger (L), which coincidentally is the year I started working there. The interior features in the 1969 photo (floor tile, ceiling, walls) all appear to be an exact match to confirm the location.

Now known as Lake Chevrolet, same location.

I'm hoping at some point we hear more about the history of the car, sounds like the buyer and advisors were able to find it.
