Tiger Promotions
9 Attachment(s)
The Tiger promotions for the GTO started around late ‘64 and ended in very early 1967.
At most every Pontiac dealer during these years you would see various Tiger related items from a Tiger rug, Tiger toy, Tiger tails and even a ‘65 GTO completely painted like a Tiger. A few vintage black/white advertisements featuring Tiger promos. Both my GTO’s came with a toy Tiger from their respective Pontiac dealer when new. Fortunately they are still in their Original place after 55+ years. |
Win this 1966 Thom McAn GTO
2 Attachment(s)
This vintage Black & White photo shows a ‘66 GTO parked outside a Thom McAn store around Christmas time.
The car has Black painted Rally I wheels with Red Line tires. You can see the exhaust resonators which were on All 1966 GTO’s. Also, it seems to have a Majestic license plate frame. The pole next to the car has a large Window Sticker displayed along with other information on this give away car. If one were to own one of these rare cars, it would be cool to have this display duplicated with the plate at the bottom under the tire. |
Great stuff, thank you.

As in 60sStuff. It’s called Love, Dedication and plenty of dig deep research. Nothing like the 60’s Muscle Car Era. Have a Wonderful New Year! Chris |
Tweaking a 389

The boys from Hurst and Royal Pontiac working on a ‘66 389.
No doubt a Bobcat performance kit being added to this GTO. T.I. Coil and bracket with it’s ground strap hanging precariously from the coil wire draped over the heater hose. Whatever works. |
That engine compartment looks brand new. I sure hope that wasn't a customers car with the hardware & tools lying on top of the new painted surfaces. And don't forget to reinstall the starter wire clip on the valve cover!

Heres few pics of a friends old GTO Judge it was a RAIV 4 speed with 4.33s IIRC the track pics predate him owing and supposedly held Houston track record but I remember running him in my 69 BB Camaro and feeling good that it was pretty even run was low mile car under 40K bet he wishes he kept it
|
wow, a liberty blue Judge. Rare and sweet

The 1968 Endura Bumper.
The sledge hammer test. Seems the shock of the big hammer dropped the RH headlight door. This ‘68 has the optional lower pinstripes. Bowling ball test. Miss GTO is trying to dent that ‘68 rubber bumper. |

Here is a picture of my 1965 GTO it had been a race car since new. The paint is original on the car and so is the interior. the original motor was blown up, the car was ordered
389 3x2 360 HP M21 with a 3:90 gear (yes I have the PHS) I have had this car for over 10 years and drive the piss out of it, it as purchased from a friend and he had it for 10 years before me (or more). It is fantastic driving that always starts. It currently has a 400 in it with the tri-power setup. |

Beautiful 60’s hotels and motels on the beaches of NJ.
This beach hotel (KONA KAI) in Jersey shows another 1964 Lemans in Sunfire Red and a Burgundy ‘65 Catalina model in the parking lot. Unfortunately this hotel was demolished in 2006. Story goes that Ms. Cordelia Gevas drove her Mayfair Maize ‘65 GTO from her NJ home to the NJ beaches a couple times in the late 60’s. Those were the days! |

Looks like Deluxe wheel disc with Red line tires on this Cordova top ‘67. |
----Chris,,,Those tires are almost too hard to call. I could call either red or dirty white. One thing for sure,,,they are Firestones!.....Bill S

The pic reminded me of Stone Harbor.

Another vintage photo showing a Red ‘67 GTO parked at a cool 60’s Motel.
I fondly remember traveling from Springfield Illinois to the state of Florida as a little kid with my brother and sister with Mom & Dad up front in a white Chevrolet station wagon towing a boat. Those were the best of times in the 50’s - 60’s. |

Here are a few pics the original owner of my 67 z sent me of the GTO he bought new (then later traded on the Z). A couple of these pics are at a GM plant in the Flint area. I suspect the timing equipment was provided by the Firebirds car club at GMI.

Couple more:

That ‘64 has the 1965 Custom wheel disc on it.
The exhaust splitter mount looks exactly like it should be. Cool photos, Thanks for sharing! |
Oh, a few more pics.
The yellow throttle return spring is in an odd place. Looks like the Custom disc and splitters are gone. Never seen an antenna extended out that far before. Outside rear view mirror was there and now it’s not ?? |

Assuming the shot with the dog dish covers is when the car was new (64 Michigan plates). Last couple shots:
|
Chris, I saw that too on the spring and custom bracket forward of it. The center carb throttle bracket looks strange too. I'm assuming this was part of deleting the factory vacuum linkage?
