Hey Rick. They are red. If I recall correctly they are close to the build date of 06E I will dig them out from the totes. We boxed up 25 totes of parts. As time went by the OO told his family that the car was to be sold only to me at a fair price ..if something happened to him....and luckily he is in good health with many years ahead of him to enjoy the car and our friendship .
Rick I stand corrected they are black and I have yet to find them I know they’re in a cardboard box
OK..thank you.
I would've guessed Red with the custom bkts. ordered. |
Awesome, just read this entire thread. Great find, exceptional provenance and what a solid car...... Congrats Doug!
Neat car and history.
Question... who welded the axle tubes? See it in the video but no mention of it. Is that something the owner had Don do or something he did on his own at a later time? |
Well let me first start off with a HUGE Congratulations my VERY good friend Doug Perry on his newest purchase !!! This car could not have gone to a BETTER person !! I have known of the Superman Yenko for almost 20 yrs. I remember hearing of these stories from Brian Henderson.. I always thought it was a "Unicorn" didn't think we would EVER see this car. The orig. owner was not a fan of the public.. he is not the HEY.. look at me kinda of guy. Probably why this car has sat for more then 45 yrs behind closed doors. The orig owner and Doug hit it off right from the beginning and grew to be good friends over the next 9 yrs. And of coarse we do know why this Camaro was nick named the Superman Yenko ??? with its rare color combination.. Bright Nantucket Blue body.. Black hat and Red Interior :) Just my .02 cents..
The "MOF" |
Very kind words Mr Potter....you have always been good to me. Thank you !!!
Don schooled his sales team. I bet he heard every excuse: strange colors, last years model, high window sticker, robbing parts. He drained the kids pockets.
All these years later, best thing that ever happened to the original owner. |
I guess if Don Yenko sent a letter to AHRA calling the 450/410 cars ...Super Camaros. Then YS760 is a Super Car IMO.
This car is absolutely amazing, This is something that most of us motor heads only dream about. Why did the original owner take the car apart?
With that milage and sitting in a heated garage this car must be like new.:eek2: I can't wait to see the car finished. Mark . |
John the OO was displeased once he painted the car red at the end of 1968....He wish he had not done that so he decided to take the car apart and eventually paint it blue again....And then life got in the way.
Seatbelts were black and consistent with dates of 23-25 of 1967
Thanks for checking Doug.

Sure thing Rick
It looks like we will try and take the car to the Super Car Reunion 21 in Bowling Green Kentucky...July 26-28... please come if your time permits it is a great show .... we expect to pull the engine and transmission and finish taking the car apart ASAP and then take it to Frank Arone at Arone Restorations in Homer City Pennsylvania to start the restoration.
Awesome Doug! I can't wait to see it!
We have a great time at every reunion...especially Thursday night !!! Carbeque

With the help of a few fellow members I was able to find a complete set of the elusive 15x6 rally wheels for my car. They are the early 67 Z wheels all dated 3/67 ...these will go well with my mostly NOS set of original Firestone wide oval white stripe tires . Thanks guys.
These rims are weird because the date is on the inside of the rim and not at the valve stem. I will get the pics uploaded to show what I am talking about .

Congrats, Doug. Are they blank by the valve stem or do they say DF there?
Hi Jon...they are blank by the valve stem....NO DF. Thanks for your insight when I was pursuing these rims .

Late to the conversation - traveling the last month.
Neat car. Just a few things I noticed - looks like he painted the floors and added some options. It was pretty loaded before and he added even more to it! The car came with a rear speaker, but now has 4 speakers (maybe 5 if he didn't pull the front one). Power brakes, tilt, and rear defroster were also added. |
Kurt ...he painted everything...door gutter wiring plates etc. I will ask John about those items ...I know I did get duplicates of some items...ie. steering column.
Kurt...I received a call and text from John last night and today. He says Yenko installed the stereo with extra speaker...the amplifier mounts underneath the glovebox door....I have that paperwork and instructions in my docs. John added the tilt wheel Because his knee was always smacking the other wheel/ column...When I got the car and he did give me the original steering column. He did add the defrost himself...and the power brakes .
The invoice and price indicates it's a AM/FM mono. There was no AM/FM stereo in 67, so it has to be a 68 unit. The stereo was another $227 upgrade. ?
Thanks! |
It must be a 68 unit ....has kick panel speakers as well...as I had said the amplifier was mounted below the glovebox...John the OO said all the work was done at Yenko ....I want to say the cost was in the mid one hundred range.
Page one says $133.80 and then page 5 says install am-fm / antenna ...N/C I assume that is no charge. He picked up the car March 16, 1968 . Hope that helps .
Sounds like the radio was pulled to make the sale on another car.
$133.80 is the cost for a AM/FM mono. |
Not sure Kurt...John said he had this done at Yenko and page 5 says N/C I can’t offer any more information than what the OO gave me . Sorry for the confusion.
hey Doug, A great big congrats on finding this awesome Yenko supercar, WOW! what a pleasure to get to look it over these past few days @ S.C.R. . It would be impossible to find a more solid car anywhere to restore. im so glad you got this one, couldn't happen to a nicer guy. PS thanks for all the help with my new purchase , im thrilled with my car!
Glad to help you with the yellow Copo...you will enjoy the car for a long time to come. The restoration of YS 760 starts very soon.
