I've been picking away slowly on the 55. Gas tank and lines all installed. Exhaust completed. I just finished up installing the passenger side glass. I started ordering my parts to start my wiring. Its getting there!

Too Many Projects 08-31-2022 01:34 PM

Just need anti freeze and fuel. She is ready to be fired up! Oh and hook up that mechanical oil line.

Too Many Projects 10-27-2022 01:58 AM

Absolutely beautiful !!!

EXCEPT that plastic oil line. PLEASE throw that away and go buy the copper kit. It will not only be much safer, but will match color with the body way better...:cool2:
Also available on Amazon, but I try to avoid that.

Yep I thought about the copper line. I will order it. Its going to the top of the block so it wont be near anything hot. But now is a good time to replace it.

Amber, under body lights ?

jasonL78 02-15-2023 11:39 AM

Yes 8 LED lights mounted up under the inside of the frame. Not that I will be driving it at night much. I always wanted them on a car, so I figured why not!

Too Many Projects 02-15-2023 12:10 PM

They will look good at an "Under the Lights" car show too.

Its been a crazy year. I got the interior installed and on the road. Lots of issues with the holley 94 carbs. Decided to pull the trigger and try stromburg 97s. I really want this 4 deuce setup to work! Ive learned a lot. I guess thats hot rodding! Where I am now with the carb swap!

Too Many Projects 12-02-2023 03:18 PM

Well just about 1 year later. Fought the 4 deuce setup all fall. Almost gave up until I talked to an old timer. He said you need to go back to the basics. My issue was my left passenger side carbs were drawing alot more air than my right 2 carbs. If you placed your hand on top of the carbs while idling the motor would suck your hand in. I knew this was my problem but why? That aluminum pipe goes back to a PVC in the lifter gallery. Can anyone see what was happening?

Here is the new project!

John Brown 05-13-2024 02:19 AM

So, you need to also draw pcv vacuum from the other side to even everything out?

Too Many Projects 05-13-2024 02:41 AM

Do you have an actual pcv in that line, to limit the amount of air the carbs can pull thru ?

Exactly. On my 65 fuel injected car, it does not have a PCV valve. BUT......there is an elbow what has a .090 hole to draw a vacuum in order to ventilate the crankcase.

jasonL78 05-13-2024 09:42 AM

The line does have a PCV valve in line. I had a guy add that for me when he built my linkage. A real good idea but he tapped the line into intake below throttle plates and guess what, this intake has an oil fill tube with a breather. Instant vacuum leak. This is why I couldn't adjust idle with mixture screws. While driving it and trying to stop all it did was stall. I have it pretty much set now. I just have to tap my back carb above the throttle plate is what I was thinking to add the PCV back in.

I love the old paint on your 55..
