Re: SCR18
Andy Good question. We will have to ask the track owner ...my guess is ...yes...as long as the car is a 12.5 second car or close to 100 mph

Re: SCR18
My nephew wanted to take a ride with me in my 2002 SS Camaro at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI. They told me not to run faster than 14.0.....I think I ran mid 13's....they never said anything.

Kurt, I bet your nephew had a huge smile on his face
|
Re: SCR18
Doug, as I recall, I hauled your pre-diet rear end down the track in 13.92 and was told no more ride alongs, the cut off was 14.00.
Question is has the limit been lowered, or was that just the track policy of National Trails? BTW Doug had a big smile. |
Re: SCR18
Lol Andy. I do recall. My guess is since we are renting the track for ourselves ...the limitations will be relaxed within reason.

Re: SCR18
On behalf of SCR18 ...we would like to personally invite all enthusiasts/collectors/restorers/ and their families to join us in a Yenko Reunion celebration in beautiful Bowling Green Kentucky ...come one come all. We all have differences in opinions and ideas....but putting that aside...can allow us to experience Supercars in action. These cars all have stories as well as the people behind them. In years past these cars roamed our landscapes and their local dragstrips..... This is our way to share them with the people. We do understand that all of us have busy summer schedules with families...but if time allows please join us. We have several activities for the entire family from the kids to grandparents.

Doug -- thanks so much for the invite ... TAZ

Had a long conversation with a "Gentleman" from Elgin this afternoon. There's a fairly good chance we can add his sizeable carcass to the list of attendees in Bowling Green this year.

For those of us who know this "gentleman" from Elgin, always a treat to spend time with him. For those have have never met him, then SCR18 is a must attend event, if for nothing else then to meet Mr. Barnhart. A true gentleman and long time ambassador for not only our group, but the sport of drag racing.
And that old Camaro is pretty cool as well. |

Please send me your logo for your company and your T-Shirt size at and I will be making everyone two T-shirts for this event. I would like all emails with your logo's in a vector file if possible or a high resolution image so I can design some shirts for the event, they will have SCR18 and the year and I will include all sponsors and try to put on Logo's from people that are bringing cars to run down the track, please get them to my no later then July 4th
Lets have some fun and make some good memories. Scott |
Re: SCR18, updated 6/12/2015
Cool...

Re: SCR18, updated 6/12/2015
Scott
It is very generous of you to have T-shirts made for everyone. We appreciate all the support you have given to the reunion. I just want to avoid any confusion by letting everyone know that we will have SCR 18 shirts available as we always have at the past reunions. The shirts have been ordered and I expect the artwork to be finalized next week. I think we have a pretty cool shirt that is going to give a nod of appreciation to someone who is very special in the Supercar community. Like you said it is going to be a great time and I hope everyone is looking forward to getting together as much as I am. Jamie |

No problem at all. We all want this to be one of the best reunions ever and I think it is shaping up to be just that. Thanks again to you and your whole gang for all the hard work you are putting in on the SY Deuce to have it ready to make some hard passes!!

Re: SCR18, updated 6/12/2015
OK, I have loved wearing the T-shirts from the reunion, but I want to throw out a proposal for some lucky guys in SE Michigan and Ohio.
I have been in touch with Reliable and I have a price on renting a truck for the SCR, but right now I need 3 or 4 cars to make a full load. Anybody in Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus or Cincy who wants to bring their car but needs a way to get it there please send me a PM. Thanks Andy |
Re: SCR18, updated 6/12/2015
Hi Andy,
At this point I'm signed up for drag racing and plan on attending. Several folks have reached out and offered assistance in getting me down the track safely. This will be completely new for me! I'm in for the truck rental. I also plan on having the car on display in the Non-Super car area on Saturday. I will have all my documents with me. I encourage any member here to stop by and introduce themselves. Re: SCR18, updated 6/12/2015
Lots of talk of people racing their cars at SCR 18. Are there classes? Is it all just for fun, being just who you end up lined up against in the staging lanes? Can "bracket racers" race? Late model cars OK (SRT Dodge)? Clones? Stock '73 454 SS Chevelle? Just wondering what all can race and what kind of format the "races" will be held under.
Thanks |
Re: SCR18, updated 6/12/2015
No brackets/format, just a play day for sYc members.
Our goal is to attract as many real supercars as possible, giving them the opportunity to run their cars without having to deal with a bunch of other racers. As in the past though, members are welcome to run cars other then supercars. |
Re: SCR18, updated 6/12/2015
Thanks Tom. So "sYc members" is anyone who is registered with this site, or is it just people who have the legit supercars ( copo, ZL-1, L/89. etc.). If someone is registered with this site and has a 1973 Chevelle SS 454 (stock), but doesn't own a copo, ZL-1, etc, can he, would he be welcome to make a few passes with the Chevelle? On street tires? I guess he would have to pay an entry fee?
Might help someone getting ready for the Pure Stock Musclecar races in Sept. I'm new to this site, so just trying to find out. Thanks Again |
Re: SCR18
Yes Tom, SYC members include anyone who is registered on this site. You do not have to own a supercar to be welcome at the dragstrip on Friday. The track day, one banquet ticket and door prize eligibility are all included in the $100.00 registration for the Supercars that will be in the show on Saturday.
To help offset expenses we will require a $50.00 fee for any car that will be racing at the track on Friday that is not going to be in the show. Additional banquet tickets will be available for $25.00 each. Everyone is invited to the banquet as well. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks, Jamie |
Re: SCR18
I would like to welcome as a sponsor to our SCR 18...Camaro Central and Shawn Green with his staff of very knowledgeable folks. Thank you Shawn for your support and love for the hobby. Guys if you want honest opinions and fair prices...call Camaro Central for all your muscle car needs from Firebird, Chevelles, Nova, to all Camaro generations....their service and speedy deliveries are impressive

Re: SCR18
Since the beginning, whether drag racing, non-judged show, etc, the SCR has been about "thinking out of the box", that is, not simply doing things because that is what other shows do. Well, we are excited to announce that at SCR18, besides the new location and facilities, we have added another very unique feature to the event. While at the track, Jim Parks, who has a Nova that runs in the 8s, has gotten permission from track management to let folks ride along with him as he does his burnout, stage and launch. Jim will lift once he hits second, but not before one gets to the experience the g forces from 1.20s 60'.
