Re: Cars with Cragars

Earlier I posted the picture above, of the “King Rat’. Because the photo has a great story on how I acquired it, I thought it should be shared with you.

As most of you are aware, this past summer a new service became available from the NCRS, where they may be able to provide for certain GM VINs, production build dates along with dealer information. A short while after sending the VIN for my 69 Nova SS L78, I received my document. It stated dealer code 716 and zone 4, which equates to RAPP Chevrolet, in Marion SD. The story gets better, to find the dealer still in business that started 75 years ago!! After sending them an email inquiring about my car, I received a call from Mr. Rapp. The story gets better, as he was able to provide me with a copy of the original invoice!!! And better yet, Mr. Rapp is still in contact with the person who they sold the Nova to new and also passed on his contact information. I spoke with the original owner several times and we’ve shared lots of information about the car. He was also so kind to send photos.

As a side note, Mr. Rapp is also the owner of the Thunder Valley Dragways in Marion SD, where most of the miles were put on the Nova, ¼ mile at a time!!

It's heavy enough empty let alone full of coffee!Does anyone know the history of these mugs?Think they are called lug mugs because of their shape.Did you receive one when you bought a set of Cragars or did speed shops sell the mugs?

Vince !!!!
I don't see any signs of black rubber on the ground or on your 1/4 panel..... is this just another car with vintage slicks that can't lay down a 10 ft patch of antique M-H Rubber.?????
Hey! she looks great !!!! keep the rubber on the tires, we have enough new tires out there to burn off....

Novadude, I lived right by the entrance to South Park off Lebanon Church, and spent most of my teen years cruising Corrigan. Where ya from?

across from the airport, I bought and sold several vehicles
there.

Hey Dicky, I lived about 5 miles from Century III Chevrolet, down by Griffith Funeral Home, The Curry Hotel (strip club) and not far from Daniel's Hardward and The Nativity Church.

I have a sister who lived in Bentleyville, Charleroi and now in Allenport. Wow, awesome Vega; that rollcage is a work of art.

West End (Sheraden). Haven't lived in Pittsburgh for 20 years though (other than a brief time in the north hills from 2001-2003). My wife is from Bethel Park. Born in 1972, so most of my time in south park was ~1989-1992.

The steel city is definitely a "car town"!
