Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
Here;s a update on the racecar, for 2015. I just ordered a set of tubular A-arms for the front end. The tube A-arms are lighter and stronger then the old stamped ones. The weight diffence is about 30 lbs. That means alot on the front of a car. Thanks The Dutchman

Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
Nice......you running a vacuum pump?
|
Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
I installed a vaccum pump at the beinging of last season. First race NO testing. The car gained a tenth of a second. We went from a 10;40 to a 10;30. Here;s some more info. I told ED Hedrick about the vaccum pump setup. He installed one on his car. He gained eight hundreds with his car. He;s a happy camper also! The Dutchman

Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
That is why even Fast Ed Hedrick calls you..................The Professor.
You have officially replaced Warren Johnson as the new and better lookin "Professor of Drag Racing". |
Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
Nice. Ok I'm putting one on my car too. Do you have any pics.
|
Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
I've heard you get about a 25-35hp gain from a vacuum pump.

Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!

Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!

Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!

Kurt </div></div> Theoretically this is true IF the motor was designed for it, OR is lacking and the pump can make up for this. IF engine has a smaller cam, you can create the vacuum as need there, therefore the Vac pump will do nothing really. AND too much vacuum can/will scavenge oil off rotating parts therefore loosing the film layer. NOT GOOD. Buddy just built an LS 6.0 with small hyd roller. Made 585 Hp with 16 lbs of vac. So on this the vac pump might have cost Hp for the drive. Most I hear from want vac in the 18-22 lbs range AT RPM |
Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
Running a vacuum pump is up to the guy owning the car. It;s a fact, keeping the crankcase in a vaccum. Will make the motor work eazier and keeps the oil from foaming in the pan. You can;t have too much vaccum, you will pull the oil off the rods and pins. I was told to only run 12 inches at full RPM. All I can say is i gained a whole 1/10 of a second and 3 plus MPH. Thanks The Dutchman
|
Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
Benny, YES some like yourself WILL pick up, other have not. Good that your running only 12 @ your RPM.
Your running well and consistent with you car, that's good. Just wondering how those heads are working out for you? |
Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
John, I;m running the same heads I had on the first motor. Strikeforce alum head. My engine guy said they work, good for the money. Nothing done no port or polishing. Bolt on and go! Thanks The Dutchman
|
Re: The Flying Dutchman 2014 New Thread!
Professor, YOU are a "bolt on and go."
