It's time for some updates Paul!

Canuck 06-03-2025 11:21 PM

Well, I am off by three years for its debut at MCACN.
I have registered and it’s going to be in Maple Leaf Muscle. It’s been broken in and in the final week of sorting out. I will resume some progress photos.

Can’t wait to see it under a Canadian flag!!!

From Lansing Michigan to New Foundland, to British Columbia, to Collingwood Ontario, to Rosemont Illinois quite a journey!!!

A syndicated Canadian Auto writer has just published an article on my just completed 442.

Very cool story! Recently found original owner of my L78 pace car... SHE was 18 when she bought it off showroom floor. She's only owned stick shift cars too. Her dad bought it for her and she paid him weekly since he got the Vietnam Veteran price in 1969 after returning from war. Look forward to taking her for a drive God willing

Awesome article Paul. Sorry to hear about Loretta's passing.... :frown:

RPOLS3 07-08-2025 01:07 PM

Congrats on the press! Looking forward to seeing it at MCACN.

Congratulations on the article Paul and importantly for going the distance on such a challenging project few would dare attempt. You've transformed the 442 and preserved a piece of Newfoundland history. You've made the shop proud!

Now that your Z28 is finished, what are you up to with all of your extra time these days Lloyd?

Between you and Paul......your shop cranks out some incredible product:naughty:

Thanks Tim, for the kind words. Trying not to hijack Paul's thread, the 67 L71 Roadster is mid-disassembly and the restoration will begin soon. Will need to lean on your deep C2 knowledge in the coming months! Lloyd

Tim
My 68 Z28 is in the corner ready to do final assembly this fall.
Lloyd’s 67 427/435 Tri power Corvette Roadster is in disassembly stage for a full restoration.

Just WOW, Paul, what a herculean effort to restore that car. How in the world do you find an NOS crate engine with the correct date codes ??? I'm always amazed at what the people on this forum come up with and accomplish.
Yes, it is very sad that it wasn't done in time to take Loretta for a last ride, but it seems you made her very happy knowing it had been saved and was being rebuilt. Maybe have a small plaque made to sit on the console for shows..."Custom built for Loretta Burrell" as a memorial.

What a great car and great color. I love the '71 442's.

Very nice.
Add a mustache,eyebrows & Bowtie,and he'd look like Dr.Oldsmobile.

Canuck 10-08-2025 07:29 AM

Here are some behind the scenes photos of areas of the car that won’t be seen too often.

I read somewhere to start from the back for reassembly of a restoration. First order of business was the rear bumper. I had an NOS one with an imperfection below the license plate area.
Like most Nos chrome , polishing or replating is required.
After repair there were hammer marks that needed to be fixed, some grinding, filling ans sanding required followed by a coat of flat silver paint.

The bumper ready to install.
All NOS parts with the exception of the back up light housings. As none were to be found a nice set from an Arizona desert car were replayed.

On the car and aligned. One taillight to finish.

Spot on workmanship! As they say the devil is in the details. Well done, Paul.
