Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
How did it miss the transmission pan?
|
Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
It didn't, but it's a rigid pan and appears to have just rolled over it. Didn't even break a fin.
I guess the truth will come out when we get it on the lift in the morning. Hoping that's all it did. This is eating away my track budget for the Spring. |
Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
After 11 hours labor, for 2 nights after hours work, it's fixed.
But haven't driven it to be sure, other than loading on & off trailer. We have actually had some snow & ice down here, and more coming Friday. Maybe I can get it out tomorrow for a few. It's straight headers for a couple weeks too. We managed to do it without pulling the engine out completely. http://blueicehouse.com/n5ssi/NewPan2.jpg |

YOU, I'm in Ontario Canada. It's nice out today @ +8 deg F. I have 3 feet of snow in the back yard. I'm hoping to get my '69 Nova together and be out for MAY!!! |
Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
LOL, ok, you win. I'm whining about not getting out until Sunday. Maybe next weekend depending on the weather.

Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
Update, it's been a while since I have been on. Sadly I traded off the orange car and now have a burgundy 69.
It's fun, has a 468, auto, 12 bolt 373 on a spool. Drives great, but nowhere near the beast the orange one was. I can put my Daughter in it and drive anywhere, has tunes, AC once I get it working. More drive-able. Plus PAUL, I finally got to use those awesome tow tabs. Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
That is good and burgundy 69 Nova bbc car that is good {tow tabs look cool too}.
|
Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
Thank you Sir. I miss the orange one terribly. But I guess it was time to move on.
This one will likely be a stepping stone too. |
Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
I think this is my favorite so far! 1969 happens to be my favorite Nova. Throw some Cragars on it to complement the vintage vibe of the tow tabs! Looks Great

Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
Ditch that air cleaner. Those things are junk. Dad had one on a '76 Nova (his first car) and it backfired and the filter melted into the carb.
|
Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
Yeah I know. I have seen them catch fire. When I got the car it had an 8 3/4" x 1" round one on it.
I felt it was choking it for air. Being the factory hood with the inner beams, this is all else that would fit, for now. I could only find 10", 12", and 14" filters. It is temporary, but even it hits the hood. It needs a shorter intake or taller hood. Every car I have ever had has had a 4" cowl hood. But I hate to alter the stock look of this one. I will find something soon. Thanks though. |
Re: Mayhems 71 Nova
No problem. Would hate to see a car like this catch fire. Probably one of my biggest automotive fears. If you must change the hood, go for an L88 scoop!
