Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread

O.K............Getting back to the build....Spent the morning getting all the bugs out of the cable shift assy ... I had to add some length to the shift arm to get the Ratio of movement to match the column shift.....another thing crossed off the list........

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01136.jpg

Dave spent the morning hooking up some more wires and adding grounds.....we took the GTO gauge module and plugged it in and as it was going thru it's start-up dianognistics it gave a couple of errors.....one that there was a traction control issue and another that there was a problem with the fuel gauge......Dave sat down and double checked the schematics, but decided to give John at Speartech another call..........

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01138.jpg

While all that was going on I decided to start mocking up the Mass airflow sensor and cold air box..........

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01140.jpg

Went and got all the stuff to install the Battery and cables today for installation tomorrow....(been using a booster battery pack till now)maybe some of the computer issues are from low voltage from the pack.....??????? Hit the start key and the starter wanted to engage, but again a lack of voltage was an issue.....It's close to starting??

Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread

First off.............The "Tangle" of wires is disappearing.........

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01147.jpg

And I have all the outside A.C. and heater lines crimped and assembled.......the break in the two smaller lines in the pic is where the Filter/Drier goes.........

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01145.jpg

Also got the gas tank vent put in.......I positioned it high in the wheel well opening where it will be covered by the fender and high enough to do the job.....It has a small slotted screened area that is facing away from where the tire would throw stuff that is where the vent opening is

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01148.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01149.jpg

As I was digging around looking for some parts today I came across the coil covers and just for the heck of it I put them on....I didn't think they would fit, and they dropped right on.........

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01151.jpg

Now............At this point Dave said "Let's see if it will start"..........Hit the key and it started Imediately.....Wow!!.......I didn't have much faith in the engines starting with the complexity of the wiring and everything else.....Just go's to show that Dave and the GM Engineers know what they are doing......Even the drive by wire gas pedal worked https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

In addition to making a bunch of parts and gaskets to clean up and seal the installation of the windshield wipers (install and pic's tomorrow) I got the air intake pretty much finalized, after I get the front sheetmetal installed I will be making a cold air box to draw outside air in thru the Hood sides.........Lot's of misc parts coming in this week to finish everything up.........

Re: 37 Ford LS2 Continuation thread

Got the new thermostat housing in, it will make getting a lower radiator hose to fit a lot easier and will look neater......Before and after

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...C01109-1-2.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01167.jpg

Also neatened up the towers for the windshield wipers, there used to be a nut holding the unit together and a threaded stud that a big nut went on that held the wiper arm on...........cut off the stud and tapped the shaft and threaded the inside of the tower guide to eliminate the nut.....cleaned it all.....I'll make a decorative cap that will probably be installed and just install the wipers if needed..........

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01169.jpg

also got the heater hoses installed and heres a shot of the Volkswagen Beetle wiper assembly modified and installed, also the defrosters are hooked up.....

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC01173.jpg

Waited all day yesterday for the Fedex truck to show up with the parts I need, he ended up showing up after everyone went home according to the tracking info.....hopefully that won't happen today.....Wheels and Tires are promised for Friday....going to the upholstry shop in a week and a half

I picked up the driveshaft and got it installed today, filled the trans with fluid.......started the car with the rear wheels off the ground and ran it thru the gears .....also got the radiator hoses installed.....No leaks anywhere.....so far so good!!.........Then the Fedex truck shows up with the GTO Body Control Module and the Powertrain Interface Module........Great...Now we can try and get the dash module functioning.....open the box....take ouit the modules...........Damm!!...........No Plugs.......I reminded them a couple of times that the modules are useless without the plugs......Darn!!......Now we do the waiting thing again......

I had them crimped at a local shop......the crimper was powered by a Impact gun and had six segments that compressed the Ferrule..........
