"331 or 377"
I believe a few of the Grand Sports had 377 AL engines with side draft webbers... that would be killer under the hood!!! The guy with the 68 Yenko said it is on the water and should be here within the month. |

Re: 67 Z28 project
Hey Charlie....I have a set of o-dash alum heads that are dated 63(if I remember correctly)...its been a while since ive actually looked at them...are the outer exhaust port header bolt holes angled at 45 degrees...mine are...I definitely will need custom headers made if I use these heads...Im curious if yours are the same and the dates?? aI have an article from Hot Rod stating they were nascar heads, but Id like to know some more history on my heads...anyone???
BTW I dont like this stuff...I ADORE this stuff ...too cool!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif |
Re: 67 Z28 project
Not to hijack this thread a bit, but I thought it would be a good time to throw this out there since the topic is similar....If anyone here can help...Ive been ´dreaming´of putting together one of my 67 Z´s with the NOS MO 302 Smokey motor that I have...I have planned on using the NOS hemi 302 heads that I have with the early 68 dated service JL-8 rear that I have...but the only part I am still missing is the intake base for the Hemi heads...(a real needle in 100 haystacks)....maybe someone out there can help...I have a few rare parts left that I would be willing to trade also....or cash of course...
the other question...Im not sure if to use the last cowl dated 67 Z (white w/standard interior)which is basically no option plus shoulder belts..the motor is dated perfect for the car...I was gonna make it as a Trans Am type car...or use my Red w/black vinyl and deluxe interior well optioned RS Z....I have original radio and heater delete that I planned on using also....I just love that RS look... But, still searching for that intake base...maybe someone could make me one?? Any ideas...connections??? Thanks Charley..and Yenko.net.... If I get my car together someday Charlie, Ill run you with your experimental alum motor, ok!! Best of luck with it!!! |
Re: 67 Z28 project
Lets see some pics of those '63 heads. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif I think I have that old issue of Hot Rod also but they don't say very much about them. Do you know what valve size they currently have?

Re: 67 Z28 project
It has been about 4 years ago but I remember one of those bases advertised in Hemmings motor news. What is the intake port arrangement? Could something like a smokey ram be modified to fit?

There has been discussion on if the floor plugs were put in before or after paint. These were in when the car was painted. They look galvanized. The paint on the bottom side flakes off easily so it is easy to see why some thing they weren't painted because it probably came off in the weather very easily. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/361599-tn_019.JPG
