I agree with Chad totally. If you haven't seen the car, the docs, etc., AND, the weather, you are not in a position to comment on what car is a deal, or, that the market is falling. IMO, the prices were very strong in general for the cars that were auctioned.

[/ QUOTE ] AMEN. Great statement. Everyone is quick to call a "low" sale the new market price, not taking into consideration the car was a rebody, had no docs, had a horrible resto,or that it was an automatic[which could really affect certain cars] or that it was gobi beige!! If a red on red Ls6 4 speed w docs that is a perfect resto brings 80K, then we can start looking at things a little differently. You will find those ls6 cars actually brought good money for the condition etc . Yet when a car brings crazy money, people do not consider it the market price because they say some "stupid drunk" had more money than brains. As is stated above,if you arent there looking over every single car for auction you cant sit at home watching TV and decide which prices are going to make up the new market or not. Obviously the people that dont have cars or dont have the money to buy them are going to run with the lowball prices and try to tell everyone the sky is falling.

The trend seems to be towards the Pro-touring cars, that Camaro and Chevelle 'vert with the wagon wheels both brought huge dollars.'71 Z/28 Sport Coupe (matching #'s/POP/48K miles) brought a strong $60K so there is hope for the early 2nd gen cars.Typical auction prices, some good buys, most not.Early cars were geared towards the entry-level buyer, momentum started slowly.Cars sell for what they do because the buyers have inspected them, they are there,we are not...for the most part. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gifDollars are starting to pick up,tonight should be interesting...

I think I can safely say that I have purchased more cars than anyone at this years Barrett-Jackson auction.

Did you see Craig Jackson's reaction at the $40,000 sale of the Von Dutch bus? He and his auctioneers were all expecting another bus bidding war like last year but I think this one really opened his eyes. He saw that six figure commission just fizzle away... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Thanks that kind of eerie. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Kind of reminds me of the pick caddy in good fellows
What would do you do with a car like that drive it or let it sit. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif I guess if you did not know
What happen in the car it would not matter
There is still one more car that is newer and has less miles
4 months to go till they un –burry a new 1957 Plymouth that is buried
in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1957
http://www.buriedcar.com/index.cfm?pageID=10
For me I would never sell a car with no reserve. I know last night some sellers
Ended up with less than they put in

Chuck,

I believe the announcers stated that the silver LS-6 had
"papers". That's why I was surprised at the final price.
I do agree that we can't see the condition of these cars.
But help me here if you can. I was of the opinion that
the cars that came across the block @ BJ were predominantly
high level restorations ( if non-survivor class ). So, what
explains the two LS-6 car prices? Bad resto's, bad or
missing paper work? Again, if BJ is to represent the best
of the best, how did 2nd class cars get in the auction?

Personally, I'd really like to hear from some of the members
here that attended this auction and can attest to the actual
condition of the two particular cars. They looked like very
reasonable buys for the money. I guess what I was trying to
get across with my earlier post is are we possibly seeing
a saturation level with Chevy BB cars? Maybe it's time for
the Mustangs, Cutlass', GS1's. etc.. Just a thought.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

What did everyone think of the 68 SS Chevelle vert 396/375 with aluminum heads selling for $85k. It was red on black. I know 68's are not that fully appreciated, but I thought with L78 Nova's commanding that money this one would do better. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
