Re: found some old pics of my Z16..
Yep, that's the pic I remember...and some hoist, I didn't remember it was a flying Z16! .
Crazy link Motion and unfriggin'believable units...I had no idea they were a real supercharger!!! . And the Sizzler...you're right Bill, wonder where it ended up? . Quite the claims on the power chart...over 1000 Hp out of the 409 second only to the Hemi! . Must be '65 era as no 427 listed on the chart yet and that snowmobile is a 63/64 SkiDoo. . Some of the other contraptions look 'interesting'...quite the machine w/ the two seats on page four that looks like it's a flying machine missing it's prop but is some kind of water skipper? Love the pic of the go-cart guy beating the rail! . Anyone here ever have one or any experiences around these units? . ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: found some old pics of my Z16..
now can somebody explain what the "turbonique" accomplishes when connect to the rear end?

Re: found some old pics of my Z16..
I believe it's really a small turbine jet engine that's output side is directly hooked up to the driven axle or prop or whatever the application may be. .
I'd expect it's only used for short runs and in the case of the Z16 or other vehicles w/ another primary engine source, you'd have to step on the clutch or disengage some way from the driven axle or you'd probably over-rev the primary engine. . Whether you'd start moving with the primary engine then flash the jet power and disengage the primary or just run the jet alone from the start, I have no idea?https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif. Either way, it's a cool new eBay search item!!! . ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: found some old pics of my Z16..
------Some of the pics on that sight seem to show some kind of Halibrand quick-change hooked up to it......Bill S

Re: found some old pics of my Z16..
great pictures. It prompted me to ask, is a 3130 (dated 65) the correct carb for a Z16? I bought a nice never rebuilt one from a guy in florida and with it were the front clip (with 396 badging) and the fenders and hood were yellow, from a salvaged chevelle he said. All I have is the carb (I could not pass it up way back when for $100, I still have it in a display case, the 65 date code and original stampings on the bowls intrigued me but not my wife). It looks similar to my 3124 vette carb (but with fuel nut differences).
