Re: Yenko Deuce Timeslip

We've been down this road several times. The conclusion is simple; the Yenko Deuce is a SuperCar because it has a hi-performance COPO vs. an RPO.

The '68 L78/TH400 COPO combo became an RPO the following year, the '69 COPO combo's were available as an RPO on other models (Impala for eg;), as was the '70 COPO Nova combo. So, combine the Hi-Perf. COPO with the limited production on certain models = a SuperCar. The LS6 Chevelle is usually the discussion model, and it's powerplant is certainly impressive, but it's an RPO not a COPO so it's outside the general definition.

The 1/4 mile times have nothing to do with the classification, and guys like me and Frankie should not be used as the barometer of the combination's potential.

(And I say "Little" with ALL due respect. Everyone knows I love these cars!)

Thank Yoy Marlin for that "educated " answer. Hvychev. I think you need to re-read my post. I never said it was Not a Supercar. I asked why it's considered one and to educate me on it and everyones thoughts on this. Sorry you feel " Silly " answering. I think you should read Marlins answer as to what he thinks a Supercar is. That being said it still looks like the Deuces are 14 sec cars for the most part without " pipes " and steep gears and a very talented driver which Frankie sounds like he is. It still is a quick little car no matter how you slice it and perhaps a " Supercar " under Marlins definition. Thanks for the answers.

Re: Yenko Deuce Timeslip

Actually.... the only deuce that has been raced by a good driver is COPO Pete's silver one, driven by none other than JJ himself! Pete's silver copo nova has run 13.2x's, without special pipes, and the stock 4.10 gear. I remember the MCR article where they threw on a set of drag radials and the copo nova clicked off a 12.9x https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif So, with a competent driver, and some tuning, these copo novas are actually quite impressive.

If you want to talk 'silly'.... I passed up two '69 Yenko Novas because I wanted one with a COPO drivetrain vs. a dealer installed 427 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif Oh well.... I love my Yenko Deuce, even if it's only a 14.2 car with my rookie butt https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Well marlin I think thats what it's all about Enjoying what you have. 14.2 is still moving pretty well. Back when i was 19 and took my L78 to the track for the first time I ran in the 14's Pretty lame. When I learned how to drive with some re-cap ( yes re-cap ) slicks and Appliance headers I went in the 12's. AS I said in my original post In have a GT Mustang tht runs in the mid 13's without too much trouble and It's just FUN........Geoff

Re: Yenko Deuce Timeslip

The deuce with headers and slicks would be well into the twelves as well, pretty stout for a 350 car https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

The SuperCar moniker is more about ordering hi-perf combinations via the COPO, and dealer installed stuff as opposed to 1/4 mile stats - keep in mind that Yenko Stingers are considered SuperCars, and they would probably wouldn't impress anyone with their 1/4 mile et's https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

I hope to change that, with a '71 "Stinger"...
