Re: Triple Green or Triple Black LS5
Paint it green. If you want a black car buy a black one. Its a great car, paint it the color it is suppose to be. If you restore antique furniture don't you refinish it in the correct stain or paint it is suppose to be. Only dopes would spend 100,000 on a car that was not the right color. But true....there are alot of them out there! Dopes that is. Paint it correctly! Sam https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Re: Triple Green or Triple Black LS5
Bill that voting idea is just to cool. It's almost like a reality show where the audience gets to vote on whether the guys a dope or not. I appreciate the input and comments. I have to say so far I'm a little surprised at the results. Where were all these green Chevelle supporters when I was trying to sell the LS6? I used triple black because it's one of my all time favorite trim combs and because it’s the extreme opposite of triple green. However, triple black is not etched in stone. I could go Astro Blue in a heartbeat, but triple green https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif
Thanks again for the comments Rick |
Re: Triple Green or Triple Black LS5
Tripple green is rare. If the resto is as nice as it sounds I think you will have NO trouble selling it. You may not want to sell it when done! Green with envy!!!!

Re: Triple Green or Triple Black LS5
Go to members ride's page 4, M G Porters LS6, and tell me you don't have your mouth open thinking what a cool car. Your not thinking,to bad it's GREEN.

Re: Triple Green or Triple Black LS5
If I was going to pick the color change instead of just green versus black, I would go to Astro Blue. As far as where were all those Green supporters when you were trying to sell your car.....they were still trying to sell their green cars to no avail!

Re: Triple Green or Triple Black LS5
Could someone post some pics of green and black Chevelles?
I do think that green with a black interior is a nice combination. It's just that green interior https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif.. no offense to anyone who has one but it is just not my style. And with a green soft top???? Uggg!!! Not sure who back in the day thought that was a hot combination!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif |

this car came from the factory in TRIPLE GREEN ...795 45 B...ouch. Given my resent experience with green Chevelles and my personal dislike for green interior and green vinyl tops I have a real problem restoring this car triple green. [/ QUOTE ] And, should you decide to complete the car in triple green, it sounds like your real problem will still exist once the restoration's finished. It sounds to me like you have a difficult decision to make, various opinions notwithstanding. Again, people, especially the intelligentsia , will tell you, "Nice car" to your face and then walk away thinking, "Too bad it's triple green." That's just the hard economic truth. If you paint it Cranberry Red with black stripes (or any popular color), people will crowd around it and most will wish they owned it. Purists, all due respect, will scoff because it's been color-changed. To each his own. Let them open their wallets for a triple-green LS5. Green paint is fine, triple-green is, as you said: "ouch." Yes, there is always a "dope" who will pay $100,000 for a color-changed SS454 Chevelle but what if they're happy with their purchase? What if they take their 100K prize out every sunny Saturday for a 30-mile drive and return home with a huge grin on their face, not caring about the "provenance" of their dream machine? Some will say that person is a "dope." Others will say only a "dope" would restore a car in triple-green. To each his own. Rick, you do have a tough decision to make! Sounds like it might be an "ouch" no matter what you do. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Good luck! |
Re: Triple Green or Triple Black LS5
Rick, You Texans been in the sun to long! Just paint the car. I don't think President Bush took this much time to decide to invade Iraq! Just paint the car what ever color you want to. Paint it in day-2 paint and nobody will question anything. Lace panels and bubbles. Sell it in primer or hey tell everybody that this originally was a body in white! There you go. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif
