Re: Who's going?

This is getting to be quite the musclecar auction. Better prices for the sellers than BJ phoenix, on real muscle. Roger

Re: Who's going?

Very interesting sale. Very high sale percentage for virtually everything having a reserve. A few very, very nice cars. Many average cars, a bunch of clones, and many fakes.

Approx sale prices with buyer premium (from my fading memory, please don't be too hard on me):

65 GTO 4k mile, orig paint. $95k

67 GTO 83k mile, orig paint (?), 4 spd., $34k

67 GTO 77k mile, all orig everything, auto $38.5

69 Z, xram with docs, wrong tires and details, but nice $75k(?)

69 COPO Chevelle about $138k

70 LS6, M22, nice but not the nicest (painted smog tubes, wrong wheel center caps, etc.), bid to $80k (that's $85k with the 6% buyers premium) against a $100k reserve (wow).

70 LS6 no sale at $60k(?). White car, auto, smog missing, wrong pulleys, possible restamp, build sheet with the VIN corner conveniently missing. Looks like the car might have been red at one time (maybe when it was a 307 Malibu???)

70 Chevelle SS 396/350hp conv., red, red, black top, very nice with good looking docs (probably real), $80k

Lots of likely fakes including a 69 L78 Camaro with no LH tailpipe hanger frame reinforcement, 67 buckets, and other problems.

There were 3 cars short of a zillion 70 SS Chevelles, including probably 6-8 "LS6" cars.

Elephant engine cars were hot, as usuall: Hemi Dodge RT at about $95K

I personally won't touch a body off restored Camaro or Chevelle unless it has perfect docs and verifiable history at an auction like this. I always wonder how many of the trim tags, Protect-O-Plates, and paper docs I see - that really look good - are fakes. There were many cars that crossed the block that were described as 19XX Chevelle or Camaro and NOT described as SS that had all correct SS stuff. Fine, as long as it is cheap enough and you don't think you're getting the real thing.

My son and I had a great time!

Dave
