Re: HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
It's a shame eBay wont police itself better. At least they should remove the bidders ID protection from auctions, so people can warn those poor unsuspecting souls from the torment they will face from sellers like this. Sincerely Brian

Re: HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
Yes, but you really can't police eBay (or Barrett-Jackson or any other used car dealer), at least not 100%. Someone's going to get taken no matter what. Besides, eBay tells you in their fine print that any problems should be worked out between the seller and buyer so it's up to those of us on eBay, or anywhere else, to police things ourselves. That guy will sell that '67 as a Z/28 to someone even if he can't do it on eBay. You can't save everyone and you can't catch all the crooks. Education, vigilance, and communication are the best weapons against frauds such as this.

Re: HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
Way to go Jon https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif I think that collector was calling around in a panic yesterday. I had a call from the guy that bought my L78 asking if a 7L113XXX VIN could be a '67 Z. He was calling "for a friend in CA that he had purchased a car from in the past". Glad you set him straight!

Mark,
I was just trying to do the right thing and keep a guy from getting screwed by a scam artist. Nobody but the guy putting on the scam likes to see this stuff go on. -Jon 1967 Z28 street car 1967 Z28 Trans-Am race car 1967 Z28 Registry |
Re: HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
This won't be the last time you here this from me.
"E-bay is bad for our hobby" Like most things it probably started with good intentions, but now does more harm than good. Want to do something meaningful for the collector hobby? Buy and sell the old fashioned way and do it fairly and honestly. Everyone will be better off for it. Tom Williams https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |
Re: HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
No difference between Ebay and something like Hemmings. People will try and scam you any where any time. There's just too many dishonest people out there so you need to take things slowly or you'll get burned.

Re: HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
I have had a lot of good deals that I purchased on e bay! and have not been burned yet. There is no way I would purchase a CAR for any amount of money without seeing it myself or having a represenative see it for me before a purchase is made.I think ebay has made some mistakes and also have corrected some.I think there are a lot of scammers out there looking to screw someone and all of them are not on e bay! Ebay is just an easy source to promote something for sale and get a lot of people looking at items that are for sale.Ebay is a good source of advertisement for many.I have not sold anything on e bay only purchased so far,and everyone I have dealt with has been as honest as the day is long.I have also wanted to purchase items but after reviewing feedback on some sellers I thought it in my best interest to stay away from certain sellers!!I have purchased 2 vehicles off e bay and when I inspected both were as described nothing less,if anything they were more than described. It is easy for any scammer to rip someone off over the internet not just using e bay.I am sure many on this site have made purchases off e bay without problems and many have sold items also.It is not e bay but the dishonest people that scam and rip people off that is bad for the hobby! You can run into a scam anywhere at anytime the internet has just made it a little more easier to do so.

Re: HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
I just wonder what that trim tag really looks like? Would he bother to repop a tag or just say "too bad" to an unsuspecting buyer when the call to ask where the "L" is? Hopefully, no one gets hurt on this deal.
