Before anybody flies out to purchase # 66 you should check with the seller as I was just told that the car was apparently stolen years ago and the Owner just showed up in Arizona with the Police and got his car back. If I am wrong, beat me with a stick but I don't think I'm wrong. Wow....

What is the #66 car, the auction is showing 66 as a studabaker...

I believe they mean #66 on the List of 69 Zl-1 Camaros produced. Not the B/J auction list.

Re: Conte
What a great guy! He told me all about the red '64 Goat and where it's been hiding all these years.

I asked him if he'd sell it and he said he wasn't planning on it until someone offered him OVER $60K for it earlier this year!
So we talked about the BJ Auction and he indicated that he might be interested in that venue... looking to get closer to $100,000 for that infamous car!

Joe Conte asked me to kinda clear-up this post, so he won't be inundated with needless questions.
When Joe told me he hadn't thought about selling the '64 GTO until about 6 months ago, I mentioned that he must've been offered about $60K for it. Joe said it was more. I assumed that he meant 6-months ago.
When I mentioned Barrett-Jackson to him, he agreed that it would be a great venue should he decide to sell. And since he had obviously turned-down OVER $60K, I wrote that he was "looking more toward $100K".
Joe is not looking for $100K -- I merely mentioned that he'd be looking for more $$ than 60 thousand, or "more toward $100K" But those were MY words, not his.

Not for "seventy something". Mr H. would take a hell of a hit at that sell price. I believe he has offered it for sale as a package deal with the Astro Blue LS-6. I believe at over $200K for the pair. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

I think that car was on a lot in Sugarland, TX. It was advertised on Traderonline.

Re: Barrett-Jackson Auction Tonight!

Charley,
I dont know if this would have anything to do with the #66 car or not...last year I talked with someone on the east coast who claimed to own the #66 car and that the other was not real. I studied the one in Arizona closely, I could find nothing that would have indicated it was anything but real, looked to be very genuine to me. I did not have a chance to view the other one but I believe the owner when he said HE had the #66 car. This will be interesting to see how it all sorts out. Is it possible there were two in the US with the same VIN, one built many years back as a duplicate, and that being the one that was stolen? They may have grabbed the wrong car?

I dunno. I think Ed C has also heard about some previous issues but I guess it will get sorted out..
