Will the drag radials bog if I just Floor it ..... IF You have 488's in her--you'll have to put about 6/100lb bags of sand in the trunk to bog her------- |

Re: Drag radials for the reunion
Mark, I'm sure it would be neat to see a high caliber driver take the car for a blast and turn a good E.T., but I'd give you a lot more credit for doing it yourself.
I don't think you'll have to worry about bogging the car, but you may have to have the R's around 2,500~3000 if you are running a radial. Without slicks, you will not have to worry about breaking unless you start leaving the gate at the same RPM you shift at. If you need any support in the pits, I'll be there ready to help anyone who needs it. Cheers to you! Paul Tholey |
Re: Drag radials for the reunion
Make sure everything is tight like the traction arm U bolts or it can torque steer you into the other lane. Empty parking lot with nothing to run into is good to practice and experiment with different rpm starts.

Pete, GET DOWN HERE AND RACE this Car for ME!!!! How should I take off?? DRIVERS WANTED--Mark [/ QUOTE ] Carefull what you ask for I think I would try it at about 1500 rpm and just mash it. Trial and error will be the game. Put 14 lbs of air in the back and do a decent burnout. If it bogs, just keep uping your rpm launch by 500 rpm till it looses traction. Then back it off in 200 rpm incriments. There is a sweet spot, you just have to find it. |
Re: Drag radials for the reunion
mhassett,
What everyone is telling you, especially Pete,is good info--if you only drove this car several times, lot of car, make your first run a seat of the pants run, don't worry about times, speed,-- just get a feel of the car going thru the gears-----Then you shouldn't have any surprises--unless you see a kid on a bicycle pass you by |
Re: Drag radials for the reunion
Mark, slow down, take a deep breath. You wil be fine.
Now, about your car. I know you do not want to embarrass either yourself or the car. I totally understand. But, YOU need to be the one behind the wheel. Period. That is what the reunion is all about. The SCR going to the track was never about ETs, MPHs, who beat who, etc. Yes, at times these things are brought up, but in a friendly way. Going to the track is basiclly about two things. One, allowing supercar owners a chance to enjoy their cars in the safest enviroment possible, and two, to allow the pubic a chance to see the cars doing what they were designed to do. Everything else is secondary. Bring the car, with whatever tire you decided to run, take it down the track, and most of all, HAVE FUN. |

Re: Drag radials for the reunion
Try Hoosier DOT slicks. Street legal but they dig in like slicks. Been working great for me.
