The car doesn't appear to have the splash shields on the inner fender wells, is that the right color for the alternator fan? Not picking at the car but does seem kind of strange giving the ebay description......

I have been talking to the owner about the car, everything seems to match! I saw the car in person and it is awesome and spectacular in every way! Most definitely a concours car!

Warren;
Welcome to the board, tell us about your COPO - color, options, orig. dealer ect...

Wheeling, WV?? Not much in Wheeling! If this thing ended up in Wheeling, I wonder where it was sold originally?

I will post the pictures, but probably next month. I need to buy some more gadgetry to do so. I will wait till after the holidays when the prices fall!
It's funny looking at the Chevelle in the picture. It has aluminium slots in the front, and silver painted steel wheels in the rear, with no hubcap, and snow tires!!!! Without a doubt someones daily driver. Wish I took a picture of the back of the car, since there is no license plate on the front.

I see you are from Douglassville. I have been there numerous times shopping at Merritt's Antiques. I went to Bowman Tech. back in 76-77 in Lancaster. One day while walking to school, a garnet red 69 Yenko Chevelle was parked on the side of the city street. I ran back to where I was staying, and grabbed my camera. I took three or four pictures of this car. It has black stripes on the SS hood. A bowtie emblem in the grill, 427 emblem on the front fender, and a Yenko badge on the fender, behind the front wheel. A real straight, rust free car at the time.
This brings me to why I took the pictures. In March of 76 I bought a 69 Camaro that had a 427 in it. I asked the second owner about the car. He said it was a 427 equipped Yenko. Well at the time Yenko didn't mean crap to me, or anyone else I knew. Information was scarce, so I went on this endless quest for knowledge. I took the pictures of the Chevelle for emblem locations, as my car didn't have any, and I thought this would be a good starting point.
Well the reason my car didn't have emblems is, it isn't a Yenko, just a COPO. My car however was purchased from Byrne Bros. Chevrolet, in White Plains, NY, and they also sold Yenko Camaros.
My VIN is #620924, body #259516 and it was built behind the 51st ZL1. It is garnet red, 4 speed, no vinyl top, no D80, It has 15,697 original miles. I am not ashamed to say, it doesn't have its original engine or trans (not my fault). The original rear is BE0317G2, and it still retains it original ring and pinion dated 2-69. The driveshaft has inline trunnions. I dismantled the whole car in 79, and basiclly it still looks the same today!!!!

Re: Reggie's COPO on ebay

Warren;
I moved to Douglassville about a year ago, to get away from the congestion of the Philadelphia suburbs. It's just a dot on the map out in the country, yet it amazes me how many people recognize it. Haven't been to Merritt's - yet, the wife keeps suggesting!!

Cool story on the Chevelle and your Camaro. Sans 9737, the ultimate sleeper look. I know that Byrne sold several COPOs & Yenkos, including Brian P's Camaro and JoeC's Yenko Chevelle. Bryne also had trouble spelling Yenko's name correctly as per their ad in 'Hot Cars' back in 69!!

The Garnet Red Yenko Chevelle is probably the one that I had searched for several years ago. VIN #356640 was a Garnet Red Yenko Chevelle sold out of Marshall Chev. in Reading, PA. This car was titled to a Kennie Shelton on May 2, 1969 who lived in Manheim, PA - just north of Lancaster. The car was never titled again in PA, Shelton's address is now a parking lot for the train station, and I have never been able to locate him. Either he still has the car, the new owner never transfered it into his name, it was wrecked, or it went out of state. The last two conditions usually are listed on the title search (pre 9/96 law), but this title search result has neither listed. There was another Garnet Red Yenko Chevelle sold out of Marshall, but that went North and was probably not the car you saw. Both cars were originally bench seat 4speeds.

Can you post pics??
