I'm saddened by the news also, even though I only came to this forum and learned of the event a few years ago.
I do have a question of, if it is loss of volunteers to have enough help in planning and running the event ? If so, I and possibly others in this community may be able to step up and fill vacancies to keep it alive. It truly is a one of a kind event and will leave a vacuum for super and muscle car owners that attended going forward.

I think it was a lack of participation. The first year that I went in 2016 there were many cars there, and not all of them Chevys. Each year the numbers got lower and lower. Last year was pretty bad. I've invited people every year, but they just won't show up. Owners of the super cars are getting older and don't feel like bringing their cars. Some of them have passed on. I would love to see it revived.

Yes, I understand the aging part... :tongue: And, most likely, the costs associated with the event may have increased, that's just the economics. Jamming it together with Camaro Fest 2 years ago and then last year putting it as an afterthought overshadowed by CF and the lack of time for relaxing and camaraderie the evening before, with the meet and greet combined with the limited track time from 5-10 PM was why I didn't make the trip. Too much of what this event historically supported as the fellowship before and during was lost. It needs to be returned to a stand alone event, as it was until 2 years ago, not overshadowed by a group that has 5-6 times as many cars and dominates the pit area with vendors and a car show.
No disrespect to the organizers for combining them if there was a large financial reason for that. But, to continue doing that would be like combining MCACN with World of Wheels and then, eventually, sending MCACN to the back room of the convention center. If it's a cost increase to go back to "the way it was", then yes, that would need to be assessed and put out to potential participants to gauge willingness to fund it thru participation again.

Sorry to hear about this,I can understand the decision as nothing lasts forever.
Went to nearly all during the 2000's when it was held in Collinsville Il.Stopped going just before 2020,due to a job change.

We also lost our biggest sponsor a few years ago.

That would play into this. Was that the insurance agent ? don't recall his name.
How would a group go about getting another sponsor ?

Maybe Charley can get The Brothers to be a major sponsor...:grin:

Indeed sad news.

This was truly a great event for many years. Kind of a "family reunion" and so many great friendships formed.

Thanks to all who made it happen for all of the 27 years.

Remember Chevy Vettefest? That is exactly what my former employer did with CVF after I left and you see how long that lasted.

Doing anything even remotely like that for MCACN will never happen, as we are not only viable and are enjoying growth in nearly every aspect of the show, including sponsorships. Of course, it takes serious work and commitment on the part of many.

It was MASCAR (yes I spelled that right) out of California. They would bring cars every year and put a lot of money into the event. I believe they are no longer in business.
