Although non-original, is the engine/trans w/ the car anything noteworthy?
Also and more important, do you still have the engine from Bud Gate's Yenko Stormer?:hmmm:
More congrats Jon!!!
:beers:

The engine has been painted over and looks to have no stampings so I don't know much about it. The trans has got an early April assy date stamp and the VIN on it but it is a restamp and that is backed up by other CRG member opinions. The rear axle is not original and it may have been replaced as far back as '67 depending on how badly it got torn up at the Indy Nationals. Yes, I do still have the engine from the Bud Gates Yenko Stormer Z-28. Maybe it will end up going into this car.

Although I did not know what I had at the time, I had a red /white stripe 67 just like this around 1973.
When I bought it the motor was blown so I bought a 327 out of a crashed Impala and put in it. I wanted to change wheels on it and to my dismay I could not find anything that would fit over the big brake calibers. I ended up with a set of 15/4 Cragers on the front and 15/8 with L 60's on the rear..Man was it sharp.

Jon, you said Yenko ordered 9 ‘67 z’s. Does that make them the highest volume ‘67 z dealer? And how many of their 9 still survive? Is that known?

Only two '67 Zs are known at this time to have survived from Yenko, both red. I don't know for sure if nine is the highest amount sent to a dealer but it seems reasonable. Clippinger, on the West Coast, may be the nearest rival. Six Zs still survive from that dealership.

Here are some pics from a former owner who I contacted earlier today. They were taken maybe 20 years ago. Previous to the restoration it had a tilt front end and chrome side pipes. It went to Canada from Georgia circa 1991. The firewall shows a patch, possibly a place where a tach cable went through previously. Somebody installed a console and gauges but the car did not come new with them. The former owner still has part of the tunnel where it was cut for an aftermarket shifter and he says there was damage to the tunnel possibly from the driveshaft as I described. It also looks like the right rear corner of the trunk has a six lug circular pattern such as that for a Carter electric fuel pump.

Jon, will this be a driver car for you or will you prep it for show only?

Richard
