I guess I'm a bit spoiled having a great 80 mile loop through the foothills of the Canadian Rocky's where I drive my cars. About 500-800 miles a year for most of mine, but some are driven twice that and the value of them doesn't matter with me.

I took my 1970 LS5 convertible survivor on a 300 mile drive through the Rocky Mountains last year and she performed flawlessly. I enjoyed every single mile of that trip!

Like most things in life, if you don’t use it you’ll lose it. These cars need their exercise once in a while or they’ll dry up.

For those of you in the concrete Jungles and maze of Metropolitan Interstates with toll roads, here's what Helmut and I have are lucky enough to have at our back door. Unlimited 2 lane black top...no toll roads, and best of all...no traffic! :)

Doesn't matter if you drive them everyday or just admire then sitting in the garage,we are keeping the hobby alive and strong!!

Thanks for all of the responses! I wasn’t putting anyone’s cars down with the price range I stated, that is just the value of a lot of the cars that I am interested in pursuing and I wondered if my thoughts on the number of miles I might do per year was similar to others. I got out of owning muscle cars about 10 years ago because of the crazy prices, fraud and the fact that I barely drove them. Tried air cooled Porsches and drove about 1,000 miles per year the first few years and that number dwindled as values climbed and driving in the city got worse. My wife and I have been rear ended 3 times in the past 3 years by distracted drivers. It has literally gotten to the point of choosing my routes etc. When in a fun car or when I was on my vintage Harleys to stay away from higher traffic areas. I finally sold all 3 of my bikes last year because i was becoming nervous when riding due to all of the idiots out there! I put only 230 miles on my 993 this Summer...

So perhaps it is time for me to just accept that I won’t drive them that much and that is OK. I spend most weekends in the garage and enjoy puttering around out there with my toys and talking to buddies that stop by.

Graeme, you and I have gotta get our cars on the road at the same time. Nothing I like better on the road than having another great looking musclecar to keep pace with along the way!
