Are you saying Muncies and Sag's were both supplied w/ the dozen or so/whatever actual '67 L79 production was? Also, is it known specifically that all '67 L79 production were 2-Dr. Hardtops or any 2-Dr. Sedans possibly built/existing? Lastly, what of any '67 Acadian L79 cars...built/not/body style/known? sorry, I've been busy the last couple days... yep darrell, that prolly is an error on the pop. its actually R8 instead of P8. i believe that R indicates Saginaw, which is correct. All 6ish of these cars came with saginaw trannies instead of muncies for 67. the 8 would mean 68, which could be an error. obviously you would think it is an error since its a 67 car, but i wouldn't rule anything out with these cars bc they are so unique that theres not much precedent for them. with this car being a 7A car, it is very late in the model year, and i guess the possibility could exist for gm to be getting ready for the 68 model year. who knows??? honestly, i don't know if the car has the original trans in it. it probably doesn't. however, it does have a saginaw in it. I'm still somewhat new to the hobby and work like a maniac and havent taken the time to get the numbers off the trans. |

Paul </div></div> thanks for the complement, paul. we do plan on restoring the car fairly soon. its a really solid car so the frame-off shouldn't be nearly as involved as most cars would be. yes, the car came with a correct hood painted the same color, so it might be the original, but who knows? by the way, my buddy hates the cowl hood on this car he can't wait to see the flat one back on it. |
Re: 67 - 68 chevy II restorer
The error I was referring to was the 8 instead of being 7. Saginaw is correct for the L79. But again as previously mentioned many of the 67 SS cars were Saginaw trans equipped.. Also find it intetesting that the FQ was the only diff that was available to the L79 to my knowledge..
