Met Joe and Jerry Hinton this week. Very nice guys with lots of cars in there past.

The Jenks didn't fall from the sky but I feel closer to finding her.

The NCRS documentation lead is on the go.

A nice guy Sal from TC and I just talked and he will run his "Loose" L89 VIN through NCRS

Been busy travelling a little for work so haven't looked under any big rocks today:-)

"THE JENKS" Update

Plant to chat with Joe again Saturday to go over what is known so far and see if any new memories have come back.

One significant piece of information is that the car was purchased at DeNooyer one year old in 1970, as a used car not brand new. He said an LS6 car was on the lot:-)

The "loose" L89 engine NCRS docs came in and the dealer is about 500 miles from Battle Creek so this could be the engine and in the one year it could have traveled and been traded in to DeNooyer. I am contacting the dealer (still in business also)

Joe is more interested in getting back his 1972 Camaro SS that he bought new himself at DeNooyer so I will get the info on that car and share it to see if we get a lead.

Step by step.

Thanks for the idea to NCRS on an engine only "PeteLeathersac"

Thanks Jeff

That is a wopper of a coincidence, I talked to the owner of the 300 Deluxe you posted while I was in Battle Creek, and would have went to visit him to see it in person but he had it in the shop getting trim replaced:-(

I did not know that he knew about The Jenks so we didn't discuss it at all. Now I will call him this weekend!!

Many Thanks, these are the little pieces of information that will crack this case!

Ryan

I will ask if I can post the post Chevelle pictures and share his story!

Ryan,
Not that it would be made public but has the vin been found. I seen you listed it as having a under dash tach, so no factory tach? I've decided that I'm joining the hunt. I will be checking every 69 chevelle I see or hear about.
I have located a primered black 69 bench seat 4 speed car with a factory 6000 tach. Been sitting in a garage in a local city with no motor, trans, or interior for along time. Likely not the car but I'm going to look.

Hi Mike. Thanks for joining "Team Find The Jenks".

You are in the right are to keep an eye out and ask around.

As they bought the car one year old the added tach makes sense. (agree it probably was a non gauges car, but any probable cars should be checked out as anyone could add gauges in a weekend)

I think the big factor would be the 76-76 paint and 755 ~ Black Coated Fabric bench seat interior, if the local car has those options and 3/8 fuel line I would see if they will let you sand down an area to look for the D96 stripe (If it is in rough shape of course) They said there was not another DY-DY 69 in the area back in the day, the others the Hintons knew about had vinyl tops.

The VIN I am chasing is for the "loose" L89 engine a friend has. NCRS Docs cam back on it and it was in a 13637 2 door hard top 1969 Chevelle with 4 speed transmission........sold new 500 miles away......
