Re: M/T VALVE COVERS

Fantastic LOOK...ain't nutt'n better than M/T 427 covers. By the way B-B M/T's were available as FINNED only W/O the M/T in the center? Yep...They were made with or with-out. The SB NOS M/T's I have mocked up for my 69 302 are M/T-Holley 1971-72... with no Country of origin.

Re: M/T VALVE COVERS

What makes the Japan-cast versions different/less desirable than the USA ones? I have a set of the "427" covers (with cool breathers) that are Japan-cast and I can't see any difference except the word Japan.

Re: M/T VALVE COVERS

I think the Japan covers are a different alloy of die cast material. They don't seem to have a deep true aluminum alloy buffed, polished depth from what Iv'e seen over the years. Keep in mind none of these, USA,Japan,Taiwan were manufactured with premium alloy..(mixing recipes change)..these are still only 'die cast' to be sold as a high profit item. (has anyone actually looked at how generic and low quality the 60-70's Cal Custom die cast items are?) The Real Early First Edition M/T 396 script, then later 427 script Covers are heavier & more rough machined around the edges but are truely hard to come by in near perfect condition and are hard to 'restore'
I may be wrong.... I actually like the Japan Covers better....Are they M/T Breathers on your Japan covers? If so...they are worth a lot more than the valve covers.
It's probally just the 'Made in USA' syndrome.....

Re: M/T VALVE COVERS

Thanks Sam....years of accumulating...and that stuff is mainly top end valve cover related.....There's Tons of Day Two stuff already on or going on the car. 40-45 year old NOS or nice used reconditioned stuff ....

Your Chevelle is awesome in those colors, equipment and provenance. WOW !!! One of the Planet's Best I'm sure....

Plain-Jane breathers. Happy to see the drippers still intact. Kinda' pitted on the lower side. Had a member polish up my Cal Custom covers for a future mild Day 2 update to my Camaro.

Re: M/T VALVE COVERS

Back in the day I guess a lot of us scoffed when we saw MADE IN JAPAN on items. But the quality was probably better than anything that has MADE IN CHINA/TAIWAN nowadays.
