I have talked quite a lot with Donn Valdiserri (the original owner of my car) and Bob Shaffer (high performance manager at Ewing Chevrolet from 1968-1972 who placed the order for my car). Bob ordered about 12 1969 COPO Camaros as well as several 427 Chevelle post coupes, and a couple 427 Novas. Bob has an incredible memory (he remembered the original owner of my car immediately). If any of you have Ewing cars - I would be happy to send you Bob's contact info (he gave me permission to post this offer). He actually had a new hugger orange COPO Camaro of his own - maybe someone knows of his old car.

I just got off the phone with Bob Shaffer. Very nice fellow with lots of information. He confirmed about 12 '69 COPO Camaros including his HO COPO demonstrator. Anyway, what struck me the most was what he told me about the '69 COPO Chevelles (I asked him 2 different times just to be sure). He only recalls selling 2 Chevelles, one red, one silver?, but he is sure they were both 300 Deluxe POST cars! His mantra was to put only performance options on the car and keep the weight to a minimum and the 300s (with the "built-in roll bar") were just the ticket. I always wondered why I hadn't heard of he 300 DX post cars being ordered via COPO.

COPO paperwork specifically stated 9562 as available on 13637 *only*...

Plot thickens. Tom - what "COPO paperwork" are you referring to? Is this a memo from GM or something between i.e. Yenko and GM? I asked Bob S. how he found out about the COPO process and he being in proximity to Yenko kind of picked it up on the grapevine and asked his regional sales mangager about it who then looked into it which eventually resulted in Ewing dealership's ability to utilize the COPO process for 427s in other than full size Chevys.

This would be the memos (from Chevrolet) to dealers & the parts list for #9562...it only references 13637 models.

Ok Tom - thanks for the info. I will dig a little deeper with Bob. Mr. Ewing is still around too and the two of them talk. I'll see what I can dig up. I know how time can play tricks with your memory https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif, but Bob seemed pretty sure of himself.
