Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
I spoke with Bill Izykowski and Bob Moon, and am still looking for contact information for Barry Curran. I'm undecided on long term plans for the Camaro as I'm getting the Olds back together for the upcoming season. The weather has pushed us back a little, but the "light at the end of the tunnel" is starting to shine!!! All the parts are ready; now we need to put together the puzzle. I hope I am not boring the heck out of everyone, but I'm excited about both cars. Going broke, but excited!!!
I'd like to find a Lakewood 3-point bolt-in roll bar, and a set of Lakewood slapper bars, too for the Camaro. If anyone knows of those items for sale, PLEASE let me know. I'm also looking for a pair of "skinny" round-spoke style Cragar SS wheels. Like I said, money is getting a wee bit tight, so I have to set my priorities on what stuff I buy. |
Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
Dave, in the shot with Mike Padula's name on the door, compare it to Bob Moon's name on the door and you can see the difference in shades of blue. That is exactly what I was telling you about.

Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
I saw it right away when we spoke on the phone. The lettering is different too. Actually, the lettering is VERY different. It took several comparisons, but after scrutinizing all the pictures, the "old girl" had a lot of different "dresses"!

Re: Old Drag Car Pictures.........
Bill Izykowski told me that he put the "Cold Air" hood on it when they originally built the car to run SS/H. The term "Cowl Induction" wasn't popular yet; officially used for the first time on 1970 Chevelles. Bill explained that they copied a few things off of Jenkins' '69. Remember, these guys all saw a lot of each other and back then they were building RACE CARS. Few, if any of them paid attention to paperwork or original parts that were taken off.
If all goes as planned, Bill and possibly Bob Moon will be in attendance at the York US 30 Reunion in July to see the car and share some memories. I'm going to call and ask that they also try to make it to the SLS Vll in June. Should be a fun Summer! |
