Period photo from approx. 1943. I draw your attention to the "Invasion Stars" on the hood of the Jeeps https://s22.postimg.cc/xd4p6qke9/image.png The brown paint was not camo. It was there to save lives. The USA was concerned that Germany would use Mustard Gas (as it did during WWI). That brown paint is a special formula that would turn RED in the event Mustard Gas (not really a gas - more like droplets) was present. |

Tire maker Pirelli released this week a special tri-color edition of its colored tires to celebrate Festa della Republica, the anniversary of the Italian vote to establish a republic government after World War II. Unfortunately, the tires will not be sold to consumers. A Pirelli spokeswoman said they were specifically made for dignitary use. |

I've always wondered what it was like to be the guy behind the vehicle that lost those. K |

Had a car lose it's muffler in front of me a few years ago, looked brand new as I drove over it in my F-350.

I lost a shower stall out of the back of my ElCamino years ago. The wind caught it and it went about 30 feet in the air before crashing to the road and sliding into the ditch. The car behind me stopped in the road and waited until it stopped. I had to go back and buy a new shower stall.

Insurance Tip:
I had a piece of aluminum, conduit or flashing hit my car two years ago. When I went to my body guy for an appt he asked if the piece was moving or did I run over it? I asked what the difference was and he said a moving piece is covered under comprehensive whereas a stationary piece is considered collision, and the driver fails to avoid. The piece in question had been in the adjacent lane and was touched by the tire of a van and sent airborne, hit my grill and went under the car exiting the tight side damaging the rocker panel. So being hit by a flying object as opposed to hitting an object that was in the way is worth knowing for insurance purposes. Repair bill was $1500 with a $300 deductible, or $1000 deductible if it was deemed collision. |
