Judging by the shoe polish numbers and the setting it looks like the photo was taken at the Pure Stock Drags at the Mid Michigan Motorplex in Stanton Michigan. We might know the owner of that car.

Dad had been racing there since it was grass. You would launch off a concrete pad and transition to the grass part way down the track. They used to have to stop racing to let airplanes land.

I've blown an engine just about where that car is sitting in the photo.

There used to be a big oak tree behind the starting line.

Art Arfons came up one year to make exhibition passes in the Green Monster and killed half that tree when he hit the afterburner.

He killed the other half of the tree when he came back the next year.

There used to be a board fence behind the starting line. He made a pass one time and blew the boards off the fence and into the potato field across the road.

The repair for that issue was to re-attach the boards to the other side of the fencing.
