Just a little advice for anyone planning a "Future" Project.......Gather as many "Original" parts as you can......Because for all intents and purpose's......Most Reproduction parts as sold are basically....."JUNK".....The best Luck I've had is with the repro fuel and brake lines, they are usually "Pretty" good......but...It seem's like the rest of the stuff available is about 50-50 .......It seems the business's that sell this stuff just don't care..I just have a problem paying for something and then when it's not correct or does'nt fit, being told that "You're the first one to ever have a problem".......My customers hold my feet to the fire everyday in regards to the "Quality" of the product's we produce on a daily basis and it just "Irk's" me that these guy's don't have a Clue nor do they care........Just "Venting".....but , it's a problem because "WE" allow it to happen https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

Ken,It's even worse when they tell you the problem is in your car.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif

Basicly their quality control is still the customer...with enough complaints they may change things..yeah right!

Ken,
We hear you loud and clear on this one. I have been dealing with this for over 20 years and have worked very closely with some of the manufactures. I constantly ask, why when you are paying a designer to sit at a drafting table making the part while using an NOS original part to draw and measure from do you cut corners. It would have cost you NOTHING more to do it right the first time. Most of the things they scimped on were petty at best and there was absolutely no reason NOT to do it right the first time. I am constantly told the same thing you were, "you are the only one who has complained!" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif I am not new to manufacturing processes and things like gas tanks, weatherstriping, door handles, carpet, emblems, decals, exhaust hangers, wiring harnesses, inner fenders, etc, etc, would have cost NO more to do them right the first time around. I boggles my mind but only a select few have changed their tooling and gotten better. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Biscayne Resto Project

This could start a whole discussion in itself. IF every reproduction part were dead-nutz correct, then we might have certain factions trying to present those parts as NOS! I'll fall back to the Build Sheet issue. When something IS reproduced authentically, then we cry about the possibility of misrepresentation. Not taking issue with anyone here; just looking at both sides of the coin. Something of a double-edged sword. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

I know. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif I really need to just keep my mouth shut! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif Ken and Rick know I'm not bangin on them. The honest guys in the hobby deserve their parts to be the highest quality. But you'll always (it seems) have that small group of misguided opportunists who are anxious to jump on the unsuspecting.

OK, enough for now. Have Gags ban me and be done! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

In many establishments today we can no longer write personal checks because of all the fraudulent people writing bogus checks. Another case of the innocent people paying the price for those who chose to take advantage.....
