I believe it got stuck and abandoned in Antarctica

mssl72 03-19-2020 05:49 AM

I've always been fascinated by that thing. I first learned about it in the 80's in a magazine article I still have. It needs to be in a museum if it's not laying on the bottom of the ocean.

AH . . . so it's you. I knew there was someone here who had a "jones" for the Snow Cruiser. I was thinking of you when I saw these photos which I believe I have never posted before.

Wouldn't it be nice to have Robert Ballard try to locate it. Unfortunately it will probably be lost forever due to shifting ice. It could be a thousand miles away from it's original abandonment point.

Maybe someday when highly sophisticated satellites with super sensitive magnetometers are aimed over Antarctica in search of precious rare earth metals it will be accidentally discovered.

The $59,995 C8 Corvettes Are 'Virtually Non-Existent' At Dealers: Report

Quote:

We reported the new mid-engine Corvette to start at an astonishing $59,995. But now that production delays are behind us and deliveries have finally begun, Cars Direct reports these base-model cars are “virtually non-existent.” The site’s analysts apparently are having trouble either finding a car at that price or one that hasn’t already been sold by a dealer.

The biggest hospital ship in the world will be heading to New York Harbor to help deal with the coronavirus pandemic, officials said Wednesday. A converted oil tanker, the USNS Comfort has 1,000 beds, 12 operating rooms, and weighs nearly 70,000 tons.

The ship will not be for those with the virus, but is instead intended to free up hospital beds in the greater New York region by taking on non-coronavirus patients, according to USNI News. Two sources told USNI News that the idea was for the ships to provide relief for coastal hospital systems, with the ships taking on non-COVID-19 cases and allowing the hospitals to focus on the most critical patients suffering from the virus.

Probably because there is no tread on those tires.

In 1972 Olds offered the 442 as a "Appearance & Handling Package." No HP engine was included. Nor was the W25 fresh air hood. You got some stripes and badges, the 442 grille and some moldings And the rear sway bar.

You had a choice of three engines: L34 350/4 BBL, L76 455/4 BBL and the W30. Only the last two included the "trumpet exhausts" which were not an RPO. If you see a 350/4V 442 with them, they were added by the owner.

I had a white coupe with a 350, but I remember it as a 2 barrel. I bought it from the original owner in 77. Sold it to a guy that made it a W30

That's rare - 1969 Charger R/T with hubcaps. Not a hemi - just a std. 440.

Anyone have any experience with one of these Aerogrow hydroponic indoor gardens? I would like to grow herbs like dill, basil and parsley. LED lights only use 10 watts.

TimG 03-20-2020 02:23 PM

Yes, the L34 4 BBL was an option on the 1972 442. The standard engine was a 350 2 BBL with single exhaust. Ours was the 350 2 BBL, but the orange/black car still looked so cool.

Ford will reprint a window sticker for your 1987–89 Fox-body Mustang

Quote:

Rejoice, all ye 1987–89 Fox-body Mustang owners: Ford will now reprint a window sticker for your classic. All you’ll need to provide is your vehicle VIN number and $59.99.

Well, we suppose you’ll also some patience because fordshowparts.com shows a shipping time of 4–6 weeks. However, for 1987–89 Mustang owners, the wait may be worth it; up until now, Ford’s only offered reprinted window stickers for 2007–19 models. (That’s not limited to Mustangs, either; it applies to all Fords, Lincolns, and Mercurys.) Sadly, if you’re the proud owner of a four-eyed Fox-body, anywhere in the ’79–86 model year range, no window sticker for you. Why didn’t Ford open up the reprinting option for the entire 1979–93 run of Fox-body ’Stangs? Who knows.

According to the IRS if you find money on the ground you are supposed to claim it as income on your tax return.

Lee;
You need to post pictures of this one in the "car show" thread.

Guys can complain about the "cowl induction" script and the 67 center caps.

Not sure what was going on with what looked like a big dent.

I covered the 67 center caps twice. - Once in this thread and once in the other thread. The initial reaction I got was "looks OK to me." So the 2nd time I posted it in the "car show" thread I made a note: "I know some of you find these acceptable - I don't."

I do agree with you Lynn, it did look like a big dent. When I read your post I immediately thought "could I have posted such a photo?" So I went back to the site and looked at another photo and it turned out to be an illusion.

BTW that's the first time I have seen the COWL INDUCTION letters from the 70 Chevelle SS used on a 69 super scoop. I give the builder an A for innovation.

I want to please everyone with photos here. I have pretty much stuck to factory stock. But I am getting the impression that photos of Day 2 cars would be appreciated also. So I will try to post more of them - in pristine condition if possible. LOL some of the engine compartments would either cause blindness or nausea!

In the small town of Dorset Minn. where is new mayor is picked every two years from names thrown into a hat, in 2015 3 year old Robert Tuffs was elected mayor. His governing style: "be nice and no poopy talk." Look for this kid to be our next president in the future. Wise words Robert!

Few places embrace the chill as enthusiastically as Harbin, the capital of China’s Heilongjiang province. It’s known as Ice City due to its long and very cold winters, with temperatures recorded as low as -44.68°F (-42.6°C) and average January lows of -7.6°F (-22°C). But, instead of battening down the hatches and huddling under their duvets, people come out in droves for the Harbin Ice Festival.
